If, as Paul said, "We have the mind of Christ:" What does that have to do with one who lived 2000 years ago

Is that part of “believing in him;”accepting that we have that mind?
Is it our real mind instead of our ego, which is temporary?
Is there any difference between the mind of Christ and Buddha mind, or Christ Consciousness, or Cosmic Consciousness or the Holy Spirit?

  1. By “having the mind of Christ” Paul was saying that it is possible, when we follow Christ’s teachings, to believe as He believed, and to live as He lived, thinking logically, making godly choices and decisions, as in the saying “What would Jesus do?” It is possible to know, through the Scriptures and prayer, how Jesus would choose in any given situation. That’s what it means to have the mind of Christ.

  2. I think it’s basically telling us that we need to do as Christ would, and follow his teachings. I think that’s all it’s saying. 🙂

  3. This is what the verse means.
The spiritual person . . . is not subject to judgment: since spiritual persons have been given knowledge of what pertains to God (1 Cor 2:11-12), they share in God’s own capacity to judge. One to whom the mind of the Lord (and of Christ) is revealed (1 Cor 2:16) can be said to share in some sense in God’s exemption from counseling and criticism.
    Peace and blessings!

  4. i believe that the mind of Christ- is exactly that- Christ/Buddah consciousness, or enlightenment, or self-realization, or being in the Now…etc…
belief is not as important as being
yet a strong one-pointed belief will lead you there., although having a strong belief in an impure truth will keep your ego stuck in belief and not moving into being…
i believe this to be closer to what Jesus himself was trying to teach- you have the ability to reach Christ consciousness, it is meant for us all, so follow his way- not worship the form

  5. Good question.
Part of the answer is knowing Paul’s inner relationship to the one referred to as the Christ.
It’s not necessary to believe in the Christ to have that mind, but more than likely you will ‘believe in him’ once you’ve awakened that mind.
Yes, it is our real mind, but that MIND doesn’t see the ego as a stepchild of the self. That MIND sees itself within the ego and the ego within itself. It knows that the egos need awakening and transformation, not crucifixion and annihilation.
No, there are no real differences. The words are only for the sake of discussion, although those discussions can make all the difference in the world!

  6. Yeshwa realized he was a Christ. So the only connection would be; that Yeshwa’s message was an attempt to wake up the people to thier true potential, and that taking christ as your personal savior was not in the context of taking Yeshwa to be your savior, each man/woman has their own personal christ, or the mind of christ that they can attain is truely all knowing.(I like to think of it as getting a link to a super internet of the mind, where anything is possible) I think Christ, Buddha, Christ consciousness, or Cosmic Consciousness/Holy Spirit are all synonyms meanting the same things. Putting this info into words doesn’t really come close to describing what it is that I am thinking but I wanted to keep this short and sweet.
    The EGO is the anti-Christ.

  7. There is only ONE commandment all should adhere to… “Do unto others as you want them do unto you” That means there is NO religion of any kind needed for anyone who can think and rationalize for him/herself and who is not gullible All the rest in the so called books of god or holy scriptures are confusing and reading all that is a waste of time IMO. Personally….. I do not believe in any prophets and/or messiahs. Their words (if any) have been twisted so much to keep the church in power through intimidation and fear mongering it is not funny anymore. The church fathers and their minions were very good fiction writers! Just because there are 1,2 Billion believers in the church does by no stretch of the imagination means the words are from god.
As an example: there was absolutely no mention of Christ in any writings and gospels until 150 years after he supposedly have died on the cross. He never did die on the cross. That is five generations…. and much can change from word of mouth in that period IF there was anything like that to it. Inventiveness and creative writing flourished obscenely in the first 400 years of the church.
Here is what one pope said – Pope Leo X (1513-1521)…..
“How well we know what a profitable superstition this fable of Christ has been for us.” This is just the very tip of the iceberg.

  8. Hi Ross. If we are a believer in Christ as our Saviour and Lord (meaning our God), then we are indwelled by the Holy Spirit.
Christ lived in physical form 2000 years ago, however, He is still alive today. He was resurrected and lives now. Think about this. Christ is not dead, He is Alive now.
We must be “born again” by the Spirit of God through accepting Christ as our savior. Only then can we have the mind of Christ.
Yes there is a difference between Christ and false Gods such as Buddha. Those were men only. Read a book called “The Case for Christ”. Also “Christ Among Other Gods”.
Keep searching my friend. E-mail me if you’d like to talk more.
