I put amethyst under my pillow to be relaxed but it gave me nightmares any crystal healers out there know why?

isn’t amethyst supposed to be a naturally clean crystal?

  1. When did you get the crystal? If you’ve had it for a while, it’s probably picked up bad vibrations and needs to be cleansed.
Was it new or second hand? If it was second hand, it DEFINITELY needs cleansing.
To cleanse it, pass it through any or all of the elements e.g. incense smoke, the heat of a candle (NOT the flame, away above it so you don’t burn in/your hand but can still feel the heat), put it in a bowl of water, bury it in either earth or salt (& dig it up again obviously) but if it’s going under your pillow I don’t recommend burying it in earth!

  2. I’m not going to just repeat what JPA said – but after you have done one of the cleansing methods she suggested, then you could charge your crystal with energy for the purpose you are using it for. Crystals have a lot of different properties so it’s best to tap into the one you want.

  3. the crystal has to be cleansed, particularly if handled by other people (more than likely)
you can do this by involving the four elements.
you bury it in the earth for 3days (or 7 if it was once owned by someone who died) then
wash your hands with rain water and salt before digging it up.
put the stone in the salt, rub it,
put it in the rain water and wash its previous energies away, this is you claiming the stone as yours and for it to share you energy, no one elses.
stand candles around it for an hour (optional, you can also hold the stone above a flame either ask for the fire’s blesing or imagine the fire’s energy going into the stone. of course be careful when handling fire!) and finally…
dry in the light of the sun or moon. the rock is then cleansed and its properties are yours.

  4. Dreams and nightmares are our minds’ way of processing emotions we haven’t fully dealt with during consciousness. Possibly the best way to relax for you is to get to the heart of the problem, resolve some feelings, and then relaxation will come naturally.

  5. February’s birthstone: Amethyst
Birthstone powers: Brings peace and calm to your life
Alternative Birthstone: Bloodstone Amethyst is the birthstone for the month of February and the traditional anniversary gemstone for the sixth of marriage.
Once considered more valuable than diamonds, this member of the quartz member occurs naturally as crystals within rocks. The stones are mined in Brazil, Uruguay, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Zambia, Australia and in the mountains of Russia American amethysts are mined in Maine, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Montana and Colorado. Amethyst from Maine is usually dark with North Carolina amethyst having a bluish tint unique to that area. Amethyst can lighten if exposed to strong sunlight for a long time. When heated to 550-560 Centigrade, the color changes to dark yellow or reddish brown. (They are then called citrines. These are more richly colored and more expensive then natural citrines) Ideally deep medium purple with rose-colored flashes, amethysts generally range in hue from pale lilac to nearly black purple.
    Sobering Thoughts with Amethyst
The Greeks believed that whoever wore an amethyst or drank from an amethyst cup would not become intoxicated. In fact, the word amethyst is derived from the Greek word “amethystos,” meaning sober. In ancient Greece, the gemstone was associated with the god of wine, and it was common practice to serve this beverage from Amethyst goblets in the belief that this would prevent overindulgence. It was also claimed that amethyst had a sobering effect on those “drunk” on love’s passion. Even today, amethyst is considered a stabilizing force for those struggling to overcome addictive behaviors. In general, the gemstone is believed to be a calming, tranquil influence that symbolizes peace.

  6. Amethyst may enhance the energy of the Crown Chakra’s qualities of spiritual connectedness and enlightenment. Nightmares may be a manifestation of this enhancement. I would clean and charge the crystal before it is used again. If you keep having nightmares, there is a reason for them occurring, and so you would need to address that issue.

  7. Another option — the properties of crystals are more like guidelines than rules that are etched in stone (pardon the pun). For most folks the guidelines are correct, but we, like the crystals, have subtle variations in our vibrational resonance. I suggest that, rather then choosing a crystal that is supposed to work for everyone, select one by holding it in your hand for a moment, clearing your mind and trying to get in touch with its frequency. You will know in short order whether it is harmonic or dissonant.

  8. Well I’m not sure about the uses of amethyst. But most likely it has absorbed some bad energy, just needs cleaned. The other answerers have told you the usual ways to clean them. But try saying this thing called “The Light Invocation”. While touching the crystal say this: “I invoke the Light of God within. I am a clear and perfect channel. Light is my Guide.”
This may sound odd, but will it hurt to try? For more Info on The Light Invocation. Here’s a link.
