Am interested in the dark arts and the occult. I want to read more about witchcraft. I want to learn witchcraft but not as a ” Religion”. Just as a practice rituals. I want to gain as much knowledge about the god’s of witchcraft. One’s i gain knowledge i want to be able to do spells and envoke the good spirits. ” Nothing evil”. Can anyone give me tips or tell me what books are good?

Witchcraft is not a religion, it is a practice. You can be of any or no religion and still practise witchcraft.

Too many people think Wicca and Witchcraft are the same thing.

I suggest anything by Aleister Crowley.

First, a couple of clarifications… 1) Saying you want to do witchcraft without being a part of the religion is like saying you want to go to Catholic Mass for wine and crackers without believing in God. While it’s not impossible, it is looked at as an insult to those of us that follow the religions. 2) You can’t invoke spirits, energy or anything else without believing in it. You say you want to learn “witchcraft but not as a religion”, and then claim that you want to “gain as much knowledge about the gods of witchcraft”.

There are no “Gods” of witchcraft. Witchcraft is a practice. Religion makes use of Gods, and witchcraft is not a religion. Unfortunatly most of the books out there that teach about the mechanics of witchcraft are within wiccan books (there are non-wiccan books out there, but haven’t encountered them yet…perhaps someone else can suggest a non-wiccan book for you). Just because it is written in a book meant for wiccans doesn’t mean it can’t be useful to someone who doesn’t want to engage in religious aspects.
