I maintain Albert Einstein was a Jew to the end, not an Atheist, agree?

Once a Jew always a Jew — according to Jews. That is, unless the Jew accepts the Christian Messiah, which is the same as idol worship. Ask any Jew.
So the claims here about Albert Einstein being an atheist are without significance. His mother was Jewish, Einstein died a Jew.

The Doctor

Ethnically, he was Jewish. Religiously, he was either Pantheist or Deist.

hadron

his religious views were pantheistic (or something like that). But if you like, we can say that he was jewish/hewbrew by race.

Creepy Susie

Who cares?

Kirk

Under Jewish law he was,but as far as his beliefs,No

From what I understand, Einstein became a believer in the Messiah! Praise God!!!

Donna, World Champs!

No I’m sorry, but you’re wrong. His beliefs are no reflection of his mother. Jewish or not.

A Modest Proposal

I thought he was a deist of sorts. Either way, he was no atheist.

muslim4life

what does this have to do with anything?
it doesn’t matter if Eisnten was a Jew or not, what matters is whether he is smart or not, and he is because he has a brain not because he is Jewish

Blue Footsâ„¢

A person can be a Jew and an Atheist. Atheists do not worship idols or false gods, it is in the definition. However, I do maintain Albert Einstein was always Jewish, he was born a Jew, and that his idea of God was not Atheism but his view of God was really Physics itself, that God is the natural flow of space/time and the actions/reactions within.

Admodeus

So…is this some kind of weird trading card game where you trade atheists Einstein for Rodney Dangerfield?

Robert R

Einstein was born a Jew. He did not, however, continue to follow the Jewish faith, or believe in the Jewish God. Spiritually he was a Spinozan Pantheist, which is essentially atheism. You are mixing ethnic or cultural Judaism with religious Judaism. By your reasoning Carl Sagan was also not an atheist but a Jew, all of his writings to the contrary.

Less QQ more PewPew

Be that as it may, he did not believe in a god. You can be Jewish by birth and Jewish by culture, but if you do not believe in a god, you are an Atheist.

The Other Cornerstone

He did much for science during WW2, not so much for his people

DC

In terms of race, yes he was a Jew. In terms of religion, the most you could possibly try and pass him off as would be a deist.

Buzz Lightyear

Einstein referred to himself as an agnostic. It doesn’t matter what anyone else calls him. Besides, being a Jew is more than simply following a particular religion. It is a cultural identity. I have a friend who refers to himself as a Jewish atheist. He doesn’t believe in God but he still is connected to his Jewish culture.

GraceM

Athiests are on a desperate search for intelligent people to claim as a part of their religion. They assert Einstein was an Athiest when he so obviously was NOT. And they claim Bill Gates when he isn’t either. He’s an agnostic.
They are ashamed of their comtemporary leaders. Primarily Dawkins and O’Hair so they pretend those leaders don’t exist.

MC2=E

I agree with you. Claims that Einstein was an atheist has become so entrenched into atheist dogma that it has now become a ‘fact’.
These and many other ‘atheist sounding quotes’ are collected, and repeated in a parrot like fashion hoping it will enforce their claims to think in a ‘logical’ manner.

TAZ 2010 (o:-:o(

Wow! Well, this is significant!
Thanks!

lainiebsky

He was ethnically Jewish. He was not religiously Jewish. His beliefs were much closer to pantheism than anything else.

Brian

His beliefs were naturalistic pantheism. Which basically substitutes the word universe and nature for god. It is more atheistic than theistic and is not a belief in a sentient diety. Einstein was simply too smart to believe in god, sorry but it’s true.

Yakito

By race, Einstein was a jew – but he ALWAYS was an atheist/agnostic. It doesn’t matter if his mother believed in god. You don’t have to be religious, just because your parents are religious.
Some quotes:
“It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it.”
— Albert Einstein, 1954, from Albert Einstein: The Human Side, edited by Helen Dukas and Banesh Hoffman, Princeton University Press
“The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this.”
– Albert Einstein, in a letter responding to philosopher Eric Gutkind
“I do not believe in immortality of the individual, and I consider ethics to be an exclusively human concern with no superhuman authority behind it.”
— Albert Einstein, 1954, from Albert Einstein: The Human Side, edited by Helen Dukas and Banesh Hoffman, Princeton University Press
“It seems to me that the idea of a personal God is an anthropological concept which I cannot take seriously. I also cannot imagine some will or goal outside the human sphere…. Science has been charged with undermining morality, but the charge is unjust. A man’s ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death.”
— Albert Einstein, “Religion and Science,” New York Times Magazine, 9 November 1930

Simon T

In that case he was an agnostic or atheistic Jew.
Claim whatever you want. Every indication is that in terms of a belief system he was effectively an atheist.
And for this forum that is what matters. What race or religion he was born into is the part that has no significance.
Do you understand now?

RaTz

Jew as in culture, yes. Not as in religion. All the Jews I know are atheists.
