I am a Christian with a deep SPIRITUAL CRISIS!!! please help?

I am 24 years old believer.
We know that there is a trend in people only taking religion seriously once they are old. Because by then most people have got all the sins they ever wanted to do ‘out of their system’, so to speak.
I’ve always hated that idea and saw it as hypocritical. I have always tried to be the best believer I can be and take religion seriously all my life. But finally….I am beginning to crack. I don’t know what to do….everyone keeps telling me ‘God is the most-forgiving’ and inviting me to sin….I’m beginning to think of sinning like….you know, partying, working for unethical corporations, money money money, lying cheating deceiving (aka joining the rat race)etc., just going for complete love of Creation and ignoring the Creator.
I am having a spiritual crisis, please give advice and why I should keep going Because even split-hearted Christians in the end repent when they are old.. Thank you

OMG A SPIRITUAL CRISIS!
QUICK SEND IN THE WAAAAAMBULANCE!
No, you can’t “sin” and just go PLS GOD FORGIVE ME. And make everything okay. Atheists behave morally for the betterment of society. Religious folk act morally because a magical bearded man that also loves then will send them to burn and choke and cry and scream for all eternity in a lake of fire.

:)

Every corporation is both ethical and unethical….not everything is so black and white. As for partying (is that a sin)? I am sure if you hurt people while doing it it is but ..didn’t Jesus turn water into wine or something?? Not sure why you can’t just be a good person and love yourself and those around you…that is the best way to be a good person.

Only Jesus Saves

I commend your honesty. I think everyone goes through such crises, that’s Satan’s agenda and none of us are saints. The Lord does not require us to be perfect, in fact God sees our faith as “dirty rags”. All that is required is to keep believing in Jesus. Do that and, yes you will stumble on your path through this life, but your salvation is assured. Bless you.

Sounds like you’re trying to negotiate the whole “in the world but not of the world” balance. The world really isn’t a bad place. When you start to play the same games those around you are playing, you might find that it’s healthy — and that you have started exercising those bits of your genuine humanity that you’ve let atrophy out of fear up till now.
Ambition, desire, celebration – these are all good things in moderation. Live your life.

Jack (Catholicism is the Truth

I’m an 18 year old believer and convert to Christianity and Catholicism. Taking it seriously is not only for older people. To me it sounds like you’re being tempted by sin. Try to be strong and avoid sin as much as possible. But if you do sin, even though you should try your hardest not to, God’s mercy and forgiveness is great.

Progressive Guy

You’re weeding out the religious crap from your life. This may be a time in your life where you need to make faith real and alive rather than just a thing to do once a week. God is forgiving and your sins were forgiven when you asked Jesus to be your savior. However, you now have the responsibility to make a difference in this world. You don’t make a difference by protesting things or condemning society, you make a difference by showing sacrificial love to others just like Jesus did. There’s plenty of books out there of people that went through the same as you: Velvet Elvis, New Kind of Christianity, etc. If your Christianity is only about not sinning, someone has seriously given you the wrong idea about Jesus. Jesus uplifted the honest people in society, even if they were the outcasts. He condemned those that were “too good to sin”.

Ready or not

God can’t make you sin. Don’t try to fight a physical battle against sin. Prayer is the only thing that can free you from sin. Jesus has washed away our sins on the cross, all we have to do is acknowledge the fact that we are sinners and that he is perfect and through him, we can be made perfect. Don’t give the devil the satisfaction by condeming yourself. god forgives us all day everyday. he is gracious and merciful. Stick too him by prayer and u will win.

seeker of jehovah

if we truly love god then we will do what he says
Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
jesus said
Luke 6:46
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
we want to follow god
we need to do what he says if we love him
we may give in to sin but to just give up and live wickedly is abandoning god

Eye of Innocence

You my friend have stumbled upon a realization of what society really is in this day. Backstabbing, fakeness all for the love of money, attention, etc. The problem is that we all fail somewhere in his plan. Doesn’t make it right, but he knew we would fail so he came…

I TRULY LOVE JESUS

God does not allow you to live a life or sin:
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to Eternal Destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to Eternal Life, and only a few find it.” (Matthew 7:13)
Don’t listen to the temptation of the devil. The devil will do anything to separate you from God. And by anything I mean ANYTHING!
The devil fights all the time to turn believers into unbelievers

All you have to do is confess your sins and ask God fro strength and forgiveness. Also read your Bible everyday and go to a good christian church. I know you have probably heard that before but that’s about all you can do. If it is something really bad then maybe you can get professional help I guess. Also just because God is a merciful God doesn’t mean that you can do whatever you want and then ask God to forgive you and then five minutes later do the same thing, that’s is not ok.

Etha Nox

Just because you are a “Christian” doesn’t mean you are subjected to a boring “sin-less” life.
Only because the life you are talking about is not “sinful” at all. Partying? Whats wrong with that? Hanging with friends, having a few drinks, maybe dancing, nothing in the Bible that says you can’t do that.
Working for unethical corporations? Money money money? Man, we HAVE to do what we HAVE to do. Nobody talks to God, nobody knows precisely what He wants, but if you had no choice but to take up a job that you needed to survive do you think He would hold that against you?
You have to do whats right for you and your family (or future family).
Lying, cheating, deceiving, who told you these things? Normal people DO NOT DO THIS. You can still live a life of fun and live comfortably without digging yourself into a hole of general jackassery.
You personally know what you believe and you know what is right and wrong for you, the world is a much different place these days and is changing fast, and all we can do is keep to our basic human values (Do not lie, do not kill, do not steal, be tolerant of others, love everyone, etc) and do what we have to do.
Nobody is telling you to go out and be Ke$ha, but if you feel like doing something like partying or getting a job that will better support you, by all means DO IT, it doesn’t mean that you have to drop your values.

ok most ppl that do that are Not Christians…and dont undersatand how much sin hurts God he say its like being cheated on in marriage….and what if you die when you before you get old and repant and Not saved?

Eph 6:10-20
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
19Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
You have to answer for your actions remember we need pure worship
Malachi 1:6-14
6 “A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?” says the LORD Almighty. “It is you, O priests, who show contempt for my name.
“But you ask, ‘How have we shown contempt for your name?’
7 “You place defiled food on my altar.
“But you ask, ‘How have we defiled you?’
“By saying that the LORD’s table is contemptible. 8 When you bring blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice crippled or diseased animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?” says the LORD Almighty.
9 “Now implore God to be gracious to us. With such offerings from your hands, will he accept you?”-says the LORD Almighty.
10 “Oh, that one of you would shut the temple doors, so that you would not light useless fires on my altar! I am not pleased with you,” says the LORD Almighty, “and I will accept no offering from your hands. 11 My name will be great among the nations, from the rising to the setting of the sun. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to my name, because my name will be great among the nations,” says the LORD Almighty.
12 “But you profane it by saying of the Lord’s table, ‘It is defiled,’ and of its food, ‘It is contemptible.’ 13 And you say, ‘What a burden!’ and you sniff at it contemptuously,” says the LORD Almighty.
“When you bring injured, crippled or diseased animals and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept them from your hands?” says the LORD. 14 “Cursed is the cheat who has an acceptable male in his flock and vows to give it, but then sacrifices a blemished animal to the Lord. For I am a great king,” says the LORD Almighty, “and my name is to be feared among the nations.

If you go ahead with the idea that in the end you can repent, and will be forgiven, keep this in mind; there are two people to whom you repent, make amends. Your God, and yourself. If you have done anything that you, personally, find unforgivable, then you have created quite a task for yourself.
Be true to yourself. Don’t do anything that you cannot absolve yourself of.
God will take care of what is God’s business, it’s up to you to deal with you. That doesn’t mean go and live in a bubble, it means at best, at worst, all things in moderation.
You can live and enjoy life, all that is to offer, all you have to remember is that You matter.
If it doesn’t work for you, don’t do it. Practice a little self preservation, treat yourself with the respect you Know you deserve.
Now, and for the future.

Your observation of religion are quite common friend. It does seem that way sometimes, that the ‘old religious’ people are just having hindsight that is 20/20. Part of the problem is religion and legalism itself friend. A lot of the things that religion says are wrong, are not. Then of course, a lot of the things religion says are right, are not. I don’t know you’re specifics, but I would pass this on to you neighbor, God’s grace is not an invitation to ‘sin now’ and repent later. That road goes nowhere and is more dangerous than you realize. If I could just throw out a presumption, no offense, but it sounds like you may not understand God at all, or what he wants from us. I was in ‘religion’ for years friend, and I got out! I now enjoy the freedom of Christ and all that he has to offer. Good luck on your journey neighbor.

I have always been deep./close with God; since I was at least 3 years old. One dose not have to be old.
Being as prayer use to be in public schools, but not for the past five decades, it maybe that the older believers have always believed too. Pray to God for help to give you strength against evil. As Jesus said we much “chose between God and money”. Can you stop thinking of money? For lots of evil is behind/with it.
I will pray for you too.

Luke 12 (Amplified Bible)
48But he who did not know and did things worthy of a beating shall be beaten with few [lashes]. For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be required; and of him to whom men entrust much, they will require and demand all the more. +++To do wrong knowing that it is wrong will bring a harsher punishment. The one thing that you need to do in this spiritual crisis is to press in closer to GOD. Pray/talk to Him more, read and meditate daily in His Inspired Word..preferably speaking out loud…especially the Proverbs and Psalms. Attend a Bible believing hot on fire for GOD church/assembly/congregation and make time to have Quiet Time before The Lord. Oh, I almost forgot…do a heart inventory on yourself to make sure you are not hiding secret resentments, bitterness, hatred, anger, envy, jealousy against anyone…..including GOD. If you are disciplined in fasting…I would suggest one of those too.

I’ve been there, that’s for sure. If you find anyone who can give you a good explaination in 25 words or less to your satisfaction, great! If not e-mail me. I believe your thinking is extremely toxic and it is strangling the life out of you. I personally have respect for the Christian way but I overthought it and came out of it more screwed up. The Christianity I was taught is not real. It’s hard to come by the real thing these days, but as long as you’re behaving like a good dog who sits and licks for a reward you are spiritually asleep at the wheel. I’ll give you a hint, some of the biggest sinners out there have enough grace and humility to humble some of the most ascetically clean, polished and well behaved monks who spend 12 hours a day in prayer. Institutions cannot teach you the truth. Nothing and no one can. You have to seek it. Jesus even said seek and you shall find…not be a perfectly robotic human yes-man. You need a spiritual awakening no doubt, but first you need to relax. Whether you’re feeding your demons/addictions or fighting them, you’re still expending the same amount of energy and spiritually you don’t have the stamina to make progress. Stop fighting. Don’t give in, but just when you think about these things let it go and don’t beat yourself up. (see why this is hard to explain in a short posting).

I also passed through this test. I came to realize in very early age that There is a God and we are His creatures and we are answerable to Him for our deeds. We therefore should obey him whether we like it or not. It was not easy, but a persian saying helped me a lot. It goes thus:
” To repent from sins in the young age is the act of prophets.”
Once I proved my sincerity, God Almighty helped me and saved from many sins. In fact you have to
refrain from sins a few time then you start getting God’s help and it becomes easier for you.
Admittedly the attractions were not so powerful then, but that is the only way you can save yourself.

If you read the story of Adam and Eve for yourself, instead of listening to the clergy, you will find that they DID NOT get kicked out of Eden for having apple on their breath. They got sent away for becoming “as gods.” You might therefore conclude that the only question on heavens entrance exam might be, “Did you ever play god and impose your will on MY children?” Kind of explains why at 1 Corinthians 15:24-25 ALL rule, power, and authority is classified as the enemies of God, doesn’t it?
God did not force Adam and Eve to do, or not do, anything. They were totally free with ONE exception. They couldn’t play god. So, do what you want as long as you respect the fact that you have no right to impose your will on a child of God. After all, how would you feel if someone took away your right to raise your children?

I reread your question several times. I reflect back to when I would occasionally sub teach at the high schools in 5 school districts. Now for your question I think of the answer in this way. A young boy starts out in elementary school learning the basics of academics, socialization and manners and does all so well that he becomes the teacher’s pet and gets the highest grades in everything. He, like the rest of us has an ego that needs to be fed…an ego can be fed occasionally, others constantly. Now comes junior high and the boy continues with his quest for excellence and loves creation and admires the creator and out of respect he adheres to the creator’s rules as the boy wants to create greatness also. He obeys and lives every thing well and so far is headed for the highest kingdom. He goes on to high school and is admired by all and getting A grades was so important to him as the creator had told him this was the only way to the highest kingdom. The young man is now in his senior year and the pressure is putting great strain on his heart and soul and he starts thinking of a reprieve for a short time and have some fun that is dangerous on some levels but he still desires the taste of the reprieve and knows it will only be for a short while and then he will return. He gets to the last month of his senior year and takes the final exams in all his classes but receives a respective C on all as his fun reprieve took him away from his studies. He takes a copy of his transcript of credits to the creator with a sense of “well done” as he had achieved much and straight A’s except for the finals at the end of his senior year. He hands over the paper to the creator expecting to be escorted to the highest kingdom. The creator carefully reviews the grades and letters from those who the boy had studied under with many kudos and accolades. Then the creator gets to the end and looks at the C grades, the final grades of 12 years of study, learning, achieving, leading and a big heart and deep soul. The creator gets tearful and is quiet, the young man who has much compassion for everyone but has much love for the creator tears up also. Finally the creator raises his head and looks into the young mans eyes and says “I’m most saddened as I have watched you grow and learn with so much to give and your heart and soul so loving I thought you would make it in to the highest kingdom. The young man interrupts and still with tears in his eyes pleads for the lack of study at the end and asked if he could retake the tests knowing he could get all A’s. The creator pauses and ponders the request and replies, I’m sorry son, there are no second chances in post mortal life. Everything you done in your mortal life counted and you so could have taken a reprieve and do good works with time to study for your finals but, it was your choice as it was your journey and I gave you the power of freedom to choose as you wished. I gave you guide lines, principals and clues to successfully achieve the requirements for the highest kingdom. I knew you were stressed out and I was so hoping you would take time out on a regular bases to have righteous fun to rejuvenates your body and enjoy the many creations I made for you to go visit and take in the beauty of mountains, oceans and sacred places to come closer to me for a brief moment and keep in touch with me as you grew. You could see the final big picture of what I was going to give you but you forgot that I also give opposites to balance out your body and soul. Light and dark, deserts and oceans, people who gave to you and people that you could give to them. Now I can only lead you to the middle kingdom where you will be rewarded for all of your good works and good grades but I’ll always feel the let down of you falling slightly short of having it all in the highest kingdom. Never forget that “I STILL LOVE YOU UNCONDITIONALLY”.
