How is Jesus linked to Taoism?

  1. He isn’t.
Taoism existed before Jesus and it has existed since Jesus. Jesus, or any other diety, has no place in Taoism.

  2. Taosim does not discriminate like Jesus didn’t. Toaism teaches to go with the flow. Jesus went with the flow. He healed sponateously. He had to be crucified and went with it.

  3. Ever hear about the Jesus Sutras.

The Jesus Sutras, or the Lost Sutras of Jesus are early Chinese language manuscripts of Christian teachings brought to China during the 7th century by Alopen, a Persian bishop of the Assyrian Church of the East (often incorrectly referred to as Nestorian).
The sutras date from between 635 CE, the year of Christianity’s introduction to China; and 1005, when the Mogao Cave, near Dunhuang, in which they were found was sealed. Four of the sutras are said to be located in private collections in Japan, while one is in Paris. Their language and content reflect varying levels of adaptation to Chinese culture, including Buddhist and Taoist influences.
OTHER: There is similarities in the Book of Revelations from the Christian New Testament and the Taoism Revelations of Taishang dongyuan shenzhou jing, or The Divine Incantations Scripture.[14]

The oldest known book that details the coming apocolypse was also produced in this period under the name Taishang dongyuan shenzhou jing, or The Divine Incantations Scripture.[14] The earliest portions of the book have been traced back to the beginning of the fifth century. They offered a new route to transcendence that was was different from the Celestial Masters movement it branched off of. This scripture sought to clarify the gods are, “in a word, merely the officials of the celestial bureaucracy.”[15] The text was unique for the time in that it promised the aid of celestial “ghost troops” to those who upheld its teachings and acknowledged the dynamic obedience and simultaneous danger of various “daemon kings” that also existed in a fantastical version of the metaphysical world. These characteristics draw interesting parallels with the cosmic and celestial warfare depicted in the Book of Revelations from the Christian New Testament. The book also urges Daoists to “assiduously convert the unenlightened,” and demands scriptural exclusivity when receiving the scripture. [16]

  4. While studying the Tao it can be quite clear the similarities between the New Testament and the Tao Te ching. Taoists like to believe that Taoism spread to Israel in Jesus’ time and influenced Jesus’ teachings. The similarities however are because of a universal wisdom and common view. “Truth is in all places and times and applies to all people” (Buddha). It’s not impossible that people can make the same observations in life without being of that religion.
Taoism is a philosophy and frankly can’t be treated as a religion to begin with. It is a mindset and not a heart thing.
Now to say Jesus was a Taoist is complete absurdity. Taoists live life letting the world as you say, ‘flow’ Jesus did anything but go with the flow! He constantly found himself in trouble with the Jewish law and always stopped to heal people. the taoist view doesn’t allow this! it says one must let life be in control and just give in. to give in means not to do anything about it. Jesus didn’t give up. He stopped always to help people so they didn’t give up. he brought hope to the sick and life to the dead. to just say that he let it all happen ‘just cuz’ is foolish. read up peeps:
“Today I appoint you to stand up against nations and kingdoms. Some you must uproot and tear down, destroy and overthrow. Others you must build up and plant.” Jeremiah 1:10 (NLT)
Jesus was a troublemaker and went against the flow. get it right guys. He didn’t come and die for us just cuz. He loves us. And what is love? (baby don’t hurt me?)
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
Jesus is God. And God Loves us unconditionally. Look at this verse a couple more times if you don’t get it yet. Has anyone died for you? Flat out risked their life for you? Walked to the noose to be hanged for you? How about taken blame in your stead? Taken the spill for something you screwed up? Took your punishment from you and onto their shoulders?
    Jesus did.

  5. Taoism has many gods; while Jesus is not a Taoist-I will point something out. Taoism has what is called The First Principle deity Yuan-shih T’ien Tsun which is “He has no beginning and no end. He existed before the void and silence; before primordial chaos. He is self-existing, changeless, limitless, invisible, contains all virtues, is present in all places and is the source of all truth.” Now who is this? Is this Jesus Christ; who is God; and only begotten Son of God, Alpha & Omega; beginning and ending (Rev. 1:9) ?Like, the pagan woman who said even dogs get crumbs from the Masters table. So while Jesus is no Taoist; even Taoists have an inkling of Him. Taoists also worship celestial heirachy and has high god all these rulers answer to-Jesus is head of church; and all heavenly authorities, image of the invisible God. Col.1:15-18
