How Influential is Meditation to the Brain?

I am aware that meditation is the practice of paying attention and increasing awareness; sometimes called mindfulness. How does it work?


  1. So many THOUSANDS of ways – yes, thousands. While you’re reading this, use your peripheral vision – (looking sideways without moving your eyes – being aware of -) – and describe to yourself what you see. Easy one huh? I can write all day on these things – e-mail me if you like.

  2. increasing awareness, meaning that when you meditate your brain gets rid of everything in your thoughts (if you use the right tecnique) and when your done meditating you have a diferent view on things than before, and practice of attention meaning focus in a way, some of the best meditators can actually lower there pulse to almost nothing

  3. When you meditate, your brain becomes more ordered and coherent in ways that can be measured using EEGs, MRIs and PET scans. Your mind quiets down, allowing you to experience a deep sense of peace and well-being. When you
    live mindfully, you enjoy life more fully and perform at a higher
    level, with less stress. You can apply the practice of mindfulness to everything you do. Just focus on what you are doing. That’s an exercise for the brain.

  4. meditation can be used to create conditions whereby the brain is receptive to ideas so if you’re self concious or nervous meditate on the words Calm Confident relaxed secure breathe in through the nose on each word and out through the mouth between words. so yes meditation is beneficial
