I took environmental science and my teacher told me the sun’s ray bounce around the sun then come to earth and they travel for about 27 years (i think) before they actually reach us because we are that far away. They also probably travel like light. I may be wrong.

through its rays of radiation. In the form of visible light, uv light. radiation partibles (photons) travel in waves through space and hit earth. Then the particle is transformed into another form of energy like heat. the heat from the sun’s rays is a form of energy that comes from the sun. The heat can me used to do work because it’s energy. etc etc.

More than 50 percent of energy we receive from the sun is in the form of light. You know that, light is a form of energy. Most of this light energy from the sun, is converted into heat energy when it falls on objects over the earth’s surface. As one form of energy can be converted to another form of enrgy, this heat energy can be converted to other forms of energy and can be used for many purposes.

Leesa,
The sun is a hot ball of gas with many different nuclear reactions going on inside of it. These reactions release energy in the form of light, or more broadly, electromagnetic radiation.
So all of the sun’s energy reaches us in the form of electromagnetic radiation, which is a type of wave. You have probably learned about the electromagnetic spectrum in school… there is a range of wavelengths that spans from the tiniest of microscopic distances, to kilometers. The range of wavelengths that is emitted by the sun includes UV radiation, visible light, and infrared radiation. The sun constantly emits these types of radiation outwards in all directions, and the rays that come in our direction reach the earth and supply us with energy. I hope this helps answer your question!
