How do you feel in a sweat lodge?

I am going to try to go to a sweat lodge in August, and I would just like to know…
Do you feel sick, nauseous, light headed? Can you drink water while you are in there? Can you leave if you absolutely have to?
Any information would be great!!!

  1. You can feel all of the above. think of it as a REALLY hot sauna. Depending on who is running the lodge you should be able to leave if you absolutely cannot stand it. If you are going to do a sweat you should really try to “sweat it out” LOL
Enjoy your sweat it is good for what ails you

  2. i’m going to go out on a limb here, and never been to a sweat lodge, but is it like a giant sauna? if so, i would think one would feel sweaty….??

  3. I just e-mailed you…but I will say here that it is different for everyone. Before the sweat begins, you will be put at ease and no, I never felt nasuea, dizzy, or anything. The heat is so intense that you feel nothing but your Self….know what I mean? Your Spirit will be lifted, you will literally sweat out poison from your system and feel wonderful after it.

  4. It’s usually done in the evening because it gets really hot, like a sauna. And there should be a bucket of water or you can take bottled water in with you. If it is a traditional one, you will be sitting on the ground where it is a bit cooler anyway. lol
You should not feel sick in any way, hot for sure, but not sick. Make sure you drink plenty of water to rehydrate yourself. And yes you can leave anytime it becomes unbearable, of if you need to pee etc. But it is best not to leave if you can bear it, it’s not that bad. lol 🙂

  5. HI:
I just uploaded as an audio cast a detailed description of a sweat ceremony that I participated in a few years ago. Feel free to listen to it. It can be found in the blog area on my Amazon author page dated yesterday, June 30,2010.
