How can one truely accept christianity knowing it is a rip off of many older, pagan religions?

i mean seriously…there’s been over 300 jesus’ before jesus was supposedly born. The sumerians even had a jesus! Christianity to me just seems like judaism and paganism wrapped up in a little unhappy bundle. I don’t silike christians or anything…but aside from the restrictions, I don’t understand why so many people can follow a copycat religion… any ideas?

Because Paganism is OBVIOUSLY evil. Duh.
Don’t question Christians. They’ll start spouting irrelevant nonsense.

deny, deny, deny, deny

13 No one has ever gone to heaven and returned. But the Son of Man has come down from heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life.
16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
18 “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him.

Annie

copycat idea huh ? Okkkkkkkk….. believe as you will…… go in peace…….. God bless

Ok hun before asking a question know what you are talking about I am a christian and there was no “Jesus’s” before Jesus there is only one God and will always be only one God

PaulCyp

Considering that there were hundreds of different pagan religions before Christianity, a few coincidental similarities to a couple of them hardly proves anything. In fact you would expect it by mere probability.

FTBC

I think you need to a little more fact checking. The closest mythological figure to Jesus would be the Persian Mithra. Also, Jesus’ teachings reflect more Buddhist ideology than pagan.
Comparisons to Dionysus and other such characters stretch so thin you could very well be comparing them to JFK. They just don’t hold up to scrutiny.

SimonSays

Isn’t it amazing how Christians can delude themselves into believing just about anything? Believing in something regardless of the truth factor helps keep their world a lot less messy than if they looked at reality. Reality can be confusing sometimes, so blind faith will always have a place with some people.

Jake M

This question sucks ass because really devout people will just say that you’re wrong and that it’s not a copycat religion and they’ll just be done with it. The people you’re trying to get your answer from are going to come at the question completely close minded and will give a worthless answer.

franhu

That the true religion was started on day seven of the Creation week when God spent the day with His newly created humans,
Christianity is the ultimate fulfilment of this religion and all other religions are copies of or have been started to decieve you (and obviously successful).

You’ve just opened yourself up for a slew of ignorant bullsh*t to be hurled at you from people blind to the truth you have just presented. Before that happens, I just want to say I’m proud of you, I agree with you and I’m glad you posted this.

PaganDad

Well put! I think you answered your own question though. Bright Blessings to you and yours!

John_D

First, all religions are copycat religions. Lets think this through. If a principle, practice or philosophy is valid, wouldn’t you expect to see it appear across multiple cultures?
Otherwise, I’m not even going to try to explain the academic view on this subject. Suffice to say, you need to stick to peer-reviewed material on this subject, and stay away from the internet and the Barnes and Noble.

It dont matter how many gods there were they don’t compare to the Lord of lords, the creator. Read a book called Case for Christ by a skeptic Lee Strobel ….irrefutable evidence.

Sinvanor

Yeah, no, you can’t say he’s a skeptic when he himself is a pastor.
That’s like having someone on drugs claim that the other person who is also on drugs isn’t on drugs.

Lion & The Lamb

no it is the opposite
read the Bible and you will know
🙂

I pray that you will see the truth before it is to late. Instead of auguring about this I will simply tell you how you can be saved.
Do you consider yourself a sinner? Have you told a lie? Stolen? Have you ever blasphemed your Creator’s name? If you have answered yes to these questions, then by your own omission, you are a lying, thieving, blasphemer at heart and that is only three of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20)
That’s how God sees you. Keep in mind, God sees every secret sin or your past as if it just occurred. Nothing is hidden from His holy eyes. No matter how upright we may appear on the surface, all of us have broken God’s holy commandments and need the Savior. Listen to your conscience. You know you are guilty, and should justly end up in hell. That’s not God’s will.
The good news is that God has made a way to freely forgive us so that we may spend eternity with Him in heaven. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us’ (Romans 5:8) Jesus never sinned. Therefore, He alone qualified to pay the penalty for our sins on the cross. We sinned, but Jesus died in our place. He then rose from the dead defeating death. All who turn from their sins and call on His name will be saved.

sourskittles86

Zephaniah 3:9 says I shall give to the peoples a pure language in order all to call upon the name….
So the true religion will teach the same thing all over the world. I have to give it to Jehovah’s Witnesses. Everywhere I go I see the same magazines and they are all saying the same teachings at your door.

Priestess Jean

First you must understand that the spread of Christianity
has had nothing to do with any valid spirituality. It is an
empire of power and wealth, which has committed mass
murder again and again, to get where it is.
Around 300 CE there was an opportunity, created by a
combination of many factors in Rome, to overthrow the
government and establish an empire of greed and hate,
by the use of a false religion.
Once it was firmly entrenched, the children of each new
generation were brain-washed into believing the horrible
garbage… and so it goes. As long as people have no
critical thinking skills, it will continue to flourish.
Jean

Xizzane

These corrupt paths taken to spread Christianity will not not go un punished. Jesus tells us to love our enemies, you’ve only proven how sinful man is and how much we need a savior from our sin. Face it it’s true Christianity’s past wasn’t perfect but you can only blame mans sinful nature those crimes and injustices

Amanda S

I agree 100% with you. One of my favorite quotes comes to mind: “If you put the Christian Bible out in the wind and rain, the text will fade. Our Bible IS the wind and the rain.” And you’re right on the fact that there were HUNDREDS of Jesus’ prior to the Christian Christ. Paganism was a religion thousands of years before the Christian Christ’s parents were even born. Christians are very narrow minded when it comes to discussing other faiths’ way of thinking. Don’t be surprised if you get an uproar of retorts from the various “sheep” out there.

Xizzane

Your right Christianity is very narrow minded. God told us you will place no other gods before me. That doesn’t exactly leave room for any other faiths

~Heathen Princess~

Cupcake most of them won’t even bother to learn the history of JUDIASM let alone anything else.
Ignorance is bliss.
And I know several Christians who are aware of the correlations and have very well thought out arguements to it. It depends on who you are talking to

God cares

There is only ONE truth and it is in Christ and is Christ.

yes he and santa are always watching,so be good.

Anna

Actually Christianity is a copy cat religion from several other older religions. Christianity got it’s religion from Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Greek Monotheism. These religions probably copied their religion from other OLDER religions

Don J.

people are affraid to die.no god,no hell,,,just death, grow up and deal with it.
