How are the Eleusinian Mysteries and the Hierophant of the Tarot–dressed as a Pope–are connected?

The dress is in many but not all Tarot Decks.
Believe it or not but there are answered in many dictionaries. The only time you’ll need something else is if you want to see a Tarot Hierophant.

  1. There were numerous priestly functionaries connected with the Eleusinian Mysteries: The Hierophant, or High Priest, would preside over the most mysterious and solemn portions of the ritual. He alone had the right to enter the secret chamber of the Anaktoron, where the sacred Hiera, or cult objects, were housed.
Not all my own words, though.
    🙂

  2. Isn’t the Heirophant the name of the High Priest who leads or takes one on the Eleusinian Mysteries? As for a connection to the Pope, I would think that both have the job of connecting the “common man” with the Holy Spirit. In the Tarot, He also LOOKS like the Pope – solemn gaze, same garmets, same hand gestures, etc.

  3. Everything in connected in Tarot since it is symbolism. In this instanced you’d be looking at a pias knowledgeable person, usually a man, but not necessarily. How they specifically relate would depend on surrounding cards.
