Hinduism and reincarnation, is it a fair concept?

Christianity, Judaism end Islam sound like harsh faiths, with a “black and white” mentality.
According to Hinduism, a soul reincarnates again and again on earth until it becomes perfect and reunites with the source (God).
Verses from the Bhagavad Gita:
“Just as a man discards worn out clothes, the soul discards worn out bodies and wears new ones” (2:22)
Should I convert to Hinduism? Their God (Gods) seems more gentle and fair.

  1. You’re right…re-living this hell over and over until you get it “right” is so much better only living it once.

  2. If you believe in fairy tales yes you should. The whole concept of reincarnation is stupid.
*wonders if someone can be reincarnated into a toilet seat when they die

  3. I’m a Hindu, and personally the ideas of karma and reincarnation are very calming. Of course, I can’t tell you what religion to be.
You should find a religion that appeals to you. Hinduism or Christianity, Islam or Judaism. Whichever one gives you the most inner peace.
A few more things about my religion:
One of the main things Hinduism teaches is tolerance. Tolerance of people of all skin color and race. No matter what. We NEVER preach, or insist that our religion is the right one or the best one. In my personal belief, every person has the afterlife according to the religion that they choose to believe in. I also like this idea because to me, racism is one of the worst principles in the world, and this religion teaches me to accept others no matter who they are or what they believe in.
Also, ready to give up beef? You don’t have to, but most of us do.

  4. All false religion avoids judgment one way or another. Hinduism is the most brash; it’s a false human-made belief which struggles to avoid responsibility for our fallen nature

  5. False prophets. The bible warns this. Jesus Christ offers internal life in heaven with the father. Jesus is the truth, the way, and the life.

  6. As a Hindu myself, let me warn you that a bunch of misinformed and ignorant bigots from other religions will jump all over you and condemn you for your beliefs. You can already see that by reading some of these answers. If anything, Hinduism is built not to condemn others or convert, so you don’t find Hindus proselytizing. Hinduism is about accepting and respecting others despite their beliefs. All in all, you should really just do what you feel makes you a better person, and don’t listen to bigots. Note, a good amount of people, mostly in the West, think that Hinduism is just some backwards old world religion that is the equivalent of the Ancient Greek religion. Little do these people know that Hinduism has contained the all of the positive philosophy that Western religions have repackaged and attributed to their leaders long before Western religions came to exist.

  7. My friend, what you do is your Right.
    It’s a free Country.
But, even though I belong to the Sanathana Dharma, myself, I would ask you to be more open and to correct some of the misconceptions you have.
True, in comparison, the Desert Messianic Faiths lack a lot of many things.
There is a limited perspective there.
It’s like three blind men who have come upon an elephant and each sees the elephant from his own perspective.
The first sees a very big Hose Pipe, because he’s holding the trunk; while the second sees a thick Pillar since he’s hugging the trunk and the third sees a huge cauldron [big pot] because he’s groping around the belly.
In terms of the Totality of the Elephant, all of them wrong, because, the elephant is like all those and a lot more.
However, from their limited perspectives, they “Believe” that they are right.
For example, permit me to ask a simple Question.
Could you kindly enlighten me as to how is God a Male?
I’m sorry, but I haven’t seen any proof of the Gender nor heard of anyone who has met Him and returned to testify to His gender?
Also, I would like to be enlightened as to why I should “Believe” that the Pearly Gates exist and that Satan, the Angel formerly known as Lucifer, has this fire and brimstone place.
Am I to “willingly suspend disbelief” to accept the story of an old man who said he flew around on a winged mule called al Burraq which took him a multi-storied place [he specifically said the second and third [floor?] Heaven] where on the second [floor?] he met John the Baptist and Jesus and so on.
Sorry, but that whole passage is so very ridiculous that it it’s a big question as to how can so many people “Believe” in this Fiction Writer. Sorry, Author. since he was an illiterate who had others write it for him.
    Puhlease.
If I were to go on with my questioning, you’d probably end up dying laughing.
However, what I would like you to understand is that the numerous “Gods” or rather demi-Gods of the Sanathana Dharma [I hope you don’t mind using the correct name] are merely stories made up by a Council of Seven Sages to illustrate certain facts of Life and Science. The actual Concept of “God” is different.
Please pardon my digression, but were the Red Indians ever “Red” or from East India? No, that’s why they preferred the term Native Americans. Were the Native Africans happy with the term Negr0 [Latin for black, masculine]? Or the Native South Africans happy with the racist term “kaffir”? Or the Native Australians happy with, similarly, the term “Abo”?
Then, pardon me, why should I accept the derogatorily intended name given the Persians to all Indians – as the oafs on the wrong side of the Rive Sindh, which the Muslims added on more derogatory meanings to and which the Brits unwittingly perpetuated – “Hindoo” or “Hindu”?
The correct usage is Sanathana Dhrama and the practitioner of that is a Sanathana Dharmic, if you don’t mind, thank you very much.
The actual Philosophy of the Sanathana Dharma is Deivehah nirguna, niraakara. or the Phase or Stage of God is beyond intellectual and physical perception.
You are not asked to “Believe” nor have “Faith” in this.
You need to find out for yourself and to guide you to this, you have the various texts of the earlier practitioners who recorded their experiences and gave the steps they’d tried. These are to be found in the Vedas and the many other texts that this over 60,000 year old Way of Life [it’s not a “Religion”] has in store for you to study.
It begins with the simple Process of Elimination where you ask the question – Can the Creator of all this be a human being?
The Answer being No, the conclusion that it cannot be anything like this is automatic.
Can God be an animal, bird, reptile, insect, amphibian, or fish?
No, ergo, nothing similar to these either.
Ans so on and so forth.
Now, this was the easy part.
After this come complicated Physics and Mathematical Formulas that need you to be accurate to 16 decimal points in your computations.
That’s where most guys drop out.
However, to cut the long story short, God is a genderless, formless State of the Absolute Totality.
That is what we all truly are. and our quest is to go back to being that. Hell is to return to this transitory existence and suffer all this all over again.
Just trying to tell you that Reincarnation is the last thing you want.
It’s Nirvana [Freedom] that you’re striving to achieve.
Also, there are some very good things that one can take from Christianity, for example. Sanathana Dharna does not “forbid” anything, it merely asks you to rationalize and choose. There’s nothing halaal or hararaam or kosher and stuff like that here. You just need to judge wisely and accept or reject something on your own good judgment.
I’ve learned a lot from “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” and use that all the time. Works like a charm, if you ask me.

  8. [Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) said:
O People, Listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat(Charity). Perform Hajj if you can afford to.
All mankind is from Adam and Eve, AN ARAB HAS NO SUPERIORITY OVER A NON-ARAB NOR A NON-ARAB HAS ANY SUPERIORITY OVER AN ARAB; ALSO A WHITE HAS NO SUPERIORITY OVER A BLACK, NOR A BLACK HAS ANY SUPERIORITY OVER A WHITE – except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim, which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not therefore, do injustice to yourselves.
Remember one day you will appear before Allah and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.]
    [CASTE SYSTEM IN HINDUISM:
    1. Brahmanas, Kshatriyas, Vaisyas, and Sudras are the four castes. (Vishnusmriti 1:1)
    2. If a (low-born) man through pride give instruction (to a member of the highest caste) concerning his duty, let the king order hot oil to be dropped into his mouth. (Vishnusmriti 5:24)
    3. If one who (being a member of the Kandala or some other low caste) must not be touched, intentionally defiles by his touch one who (as a member of a twice-born caste) may be touched (by other twice-born persons only), he shall be put to death. (Vishnusmriti 5:104)
    4. If a woman in her courses (touches such a person), she shall be lashed with a whip. (Vishnusmriti 5:105)]
The above was the answer to your first comment on Islam. I am not being harsh, but only telling the truth, so please don’t feel annoyed.
Secondly, the concept of “soul reincarnation again and again(Samskara)” and “polytheism” does not exist in the Vedas. But the concept of resurrection(Punar Janma) does exist in the Vedas, which means that human beings come on this earth once, and will be resurrected before God in the other life. This concept is the same as the concept of “Next life” in Islam. Vedas also teach monotheism(Belief in one God).
    AN INVITATION TO THE TRUTH
Prophets were raised and sent to the whole of mankind in different lands and at different times. One version of a Hadith puts the number of prophets sent to mankind as 124,000 (Ibn Hanbal, Musnad, 5, 169). What is essential is that no land, people or period was neglected; prophets were sent to all. The Qur’an says:
There never was a people without a Warner having lived among them’ (35:24)
[Muhammad(pbuh) in various world religious scriptures( including Bible, Vedas, Upanishads, Avesta, Torah, Buddhist Scriptures, etc):

The earlier Prophets were aware that Muhammad(pbuh) will come as the last and final messenger. The world major religious scriptures contain the Prophesies of the coming of MUHAMMAD(PBUH), which proves that the earlier Prophets did their jobs. But the people later on corrupted the teachings and commandments and added new matter to the revelations. The earlier Prophets were Muslims. Jesus(pbuh) and Moses(pbuh) were also Muslims. The name ALLAH IS ALSO IN ALMOST ALL RELIGIOUS SCRIPTURES INCLUDING VEDAS, BIBLE, ETC.
[Examples of Prophesy of Muhammad(pbuh) in Hindu scriptures:
Bhavishya Purana Prati Sarag Parv III Khand 3 Adhay 3 Shloka 5 to 6 :
“A malecha (belonging to a foreign country and speaking a foreign language) spiritual teacher will appear with his companions. His name will be Mohammad.]

    [Surah 2:255-256
Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).
Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.]

  9. Hinduism is not a religion. It is living style. It has history of over 10,000 years. There is no specific founder for it. You don’t have to follow hindu rituals to be a hindu. even , if your parents are christians or jews or muslims, you can still be a hindu. Have tolerance and universal acceptance. Read vedas and upanishads. You’ll get to know all science in those books itself, which are being discovered by modern day scientists. Also, read Bhagavadgeeta.
