Have you ever heard of Zen Judaism? This is for my Jewish friends on R&S….?

Be here now. Be someplace else later. Is that so complicated?
Accept misfortune as a blessing. Do not wish for perfect health or a life without problems. What would you talk about?
There is no escaping karma. In a previous life, you never called, you never wrote, you never visited. And whose fault is that?
The Torah says, “Love thy neighbor as thy self.” The Buddha says there is no “self.” So maybe you are off the hook.
Breathe in. Breath out. Breath in, Breath out. Forget this and attaining enlightenment will be the least of your problems.
Do not kvetch. Be a kvetch. Become one with your whining.

  1. Zen is literally meditation and as such not a buddhist exclusive at all.
Perhaps Yen Judaism is a more appropriate term 😉

  2. Some people believe Zen is not really a religion per se. i.e. that it is something “before” religion…

  3. Did you see the recent New Yorker cartoon?
A couple are walking away from a meditation center when the man says to the woman: “As far as I can tell, meditation is just worrying minus the content.”
