Has anyone ever achieved astral projection?

I’ve always wanted to be able to do this. when i was younger i bought all the books. tried all the techniques. i had one conscious experience, but it scared me to the point where i “woke up” gasping for breath. can anyone tell me if they achieved this and how?


  1. No and don’t care to. My body and spirit work very well together. Out of body experiences are interesting to read about, but I don’t care to experience it.

  2. Yes. It is actually very simple, you just have to catch yourself at the right time.
    Okay, so about 4-5 years ago, i discovered the idea of OBE’s (out-of-body experiences) from a friend. At first i was somewhat skeptical, but still highly interested. I searched online at all forums i could find. My questioin was: If everyone reports the same things and have claimed to achieve it, then how can it be fake?
    So I spent about 4 years reading and practicing. I always tried finding better and easier methods. And then one day i did it. On my success, I had 5 projections in the same morning. To date, I have had about 30+ experiences, my most recent being like 4 days ago. these have all happened within about 1 year and half from today.
    So it turns out that everyone is different and what works for one person won’t necessarily work for someone else. I have a bunch of suggestions so just keep reading.
    1) The number one thing for me to suggest that has really helped me a lot is this: TRY TO PROJECT IN THE MORNING. there is a really good reason for this. Astral projection requires you to enter a state of deep relaxation and trance so that your body can fall asleep while you are consciously awake.
    We enter 2 types of trances during our sleep cycles, one before we fall asleep and one when we are waking up. When you are waking up, our body is already relaxed and our mind is starting to gain awareness (or wake up). So the morning is an ideal time to practice. So plan on waking up after about 3-5 hours of sleep. then try falling back to sleep but try to focus on one thought or something.
    Just before you fall asleep you should vibrations and have possible ringing in your ears. Once you feel these, i suggest either just getting up like you normally would, or try just concentrate on the blackness in front of you and try to imagine yourself somewhere.
    I sometimes try to imagine myself walking around my room. and sometimes i just think up a dream and watch it come to life. when it becomes real enough, i enter into it.
    i must note that you must not be “too awake”. you know that groggy feeling you have when you wake up in the morning? thats what you want. So i try to catch myself while im rolling around in bed between dreams and try to remember to hold on to consciousness as im falling back to sleep. And this is how most of my experiences have happened. This is key to improving success rates.
    *************Note: common question: What are vibrations?
    You will know what these are once you experience them. They are a common exit symptom that may or may not be present. I usually experience vibrations, and they are my signal to try to exit my body. It feels like a pulsating vibration that travels throughout your body. Imagine being in a rocking chair. vibrations feel like that back and forth motion but throughout your body. this is the best explanantion i can come to think of. this won’t make much sense until you feel them. Again, you will know once you have them.
    2) Rhythm napping. Just search for this in yahoo or something. What you basically do is set an alarm to wake you up after a few hours of sleep. then you set a timer to go off 4 mins after you wake. when that goes off, set it for 8 mins, then 12 mins, then 20 mins, then 20 mins. the point here is that your body does not like to be awakened abruptly. ever wake up right before your alarm goes off in the morning? its similar to that. the idea is to trick yourself into waking your “consciousness” while your body remains asleep. just search for it to find a better explanantion. But i have had success with this on my very first time. the first time i have ever found myself aware in a dream was using this method. but i don’t use it too often because i have trouble setting the timer when i wake up.
    I guess this isn’t much but it should help you some. I still have much to learn. I am not able to project when i want, and it is something i am practicing. Again i strongly recommend practicing in the morning as this is what has given me much success. if you can catch yourself at the right moment, then projection becomes simple. the trouble is catching yourself at the right time.
