What is the first thing you think when a Pagan tells you watches don't work around them?

or say the "herding cats" phrase?
I try not to bonk my head against a wall, but this is one of those things my fellow pagans often say.

Weird.

I'm the kind of person who goes and buys 10 of the cheapest watches at Walmart and stores them in a box in my house. Next time they come over and make that sort of statement, I pull them out and insist on putting it to the test.

I follow a pagan belief and watches work fine around me. these people you talk about seem like they might be just a little "special".

Just because we are Pagan, does not mean we are permitted to be rude. We should at least TRY to make our appointments on time. And we CAN be just as organized as any non-pagans. Thanks for bringing that to our attention.
Added: For those above me who did not 'get it':
"Watches not working" means Pagans cannot tell time well enough to get anywhere at the agreed time. Always late.
"Herding cats" refers to trying to get more than three Pagans to a meeting at the agreed time without utter chaos.

What do you mean by watches not working? I don't understand the meaning of that.
I can't keep a watch on without it stopping within a couple of hours after I put it on. I'm a christian. I think it has to do with my body chemistry or something, not a pagan thing.

I remind them that you have to shake that Rolex to get the perpetual motion running again.

answer: well, ever try to herd cats? ๐Ÿ™‚ I use the term to describe trying to do the impossible (like get my cats inside before dark)
As for watches - it's a glitch some people have. Watches die quickly if I wear them on my right wrist but not on my left. Have I tested that and have others seen it happen in my life - yes.
Is it because I was pagan? Probably not. Does it still happen now that I'm studying Judaism? I haven't tested it but probably.

Mmm I got quite a few pagans in my outer ring of friends and..very few actually have that watch problem.
Now the watch problem is an electrical problem, yes it seems certain..issues can drain batteries. Yeah useful really but yes draining batteries does happens sometimes to some of the pagan brethen. Just like some have a harder time keeping their pc working, well they better ground before they do anything ๐Ÿ˜‰
By the way I do have one of those watches that "recharged" by shaking it. Not cheap but cheaper then having to replace batteries every time.
Oh and the herding cats, well when it comes to pagans it is true. It is like herding cats, it is very hard to keep their noses going the same way. But that is why I like them allot, I always can expect someone to offer me an interesting insight.

Well, watches don't work on my mom. They short out every time, it takes about a day. I would think it were a hoax if I hadn't experienced it firsthand.
Most of the others is pure crap.

I used to hear some really off the wall claims. The watch thing isn't so uncommon, and probably has a physical explanation.
The pagans I spent the most time around (and don't any more for reasons that will become obvious) suffered from delusions of grandeur. They claimed they could do this and do that with magic, but were usually unemployed, living hand to mouth, and were struggling to keep their utilities on (when they could keep them on at all). You know the drill, I'm sure.
The first thing I'd think was, "you can do this and do that with magic, but you can't use it to find steady income? You can't keep your lights on? or your water?"
So I look at claims like watches and cats as being a little hokey, but it's because of a past I had with some wingnuts.

I would give you a breath of fresh air. ๐Ÿ™‚ I would tell you that I don't wear watches because I am allergic to time....and I am. Well...technically I am allergic to fake jewelry and most of those clasps aren't made of silver or gold and so watches break me out. It's more clever to say that I am allergic to time than to have to explain all of that. ๐Ÿ˜‰
I haven't run into any Pagans that have talked about shorting out watches though...not in real life anyways.
I have no idea what you mean by "herding cats" but cats don't obey humans, whether your Pagan or not. ๐Ÿ˜‰
*edit*
That's strange, I got a thumbs up and a thumbs down right when I answered. Yahoo is being glitchy.
