Occult and Evocation?
I've recently learned of things called Grimoires. They are used to evoke demons and such.
I was wondering if anyone has any past experiences with these and if you have any advice?
I only know that joseph smith had one a jupiter talisman and used some stones in a hat to traslate the book of mormon into scripture. my mom had some kind of pendalin that would tell how many kids you would have and th esex of the child, she ws mormon and she had wicca stuff, go figure.
Uhhh, really? I do not know of any envocation that can envoke the unexistant. Sorry, but in my belief, there is no evil...
Once upon a time (before PB Randolph) people believed that the way magick worked was that the magician summoned up little spirits and the spirits did the work. A pretty good example of this is Shakespeare's play "The Tempest". Most modern magicians have a rather more sophisticated understanding of the underlying metaphysics behind magick, but the old grimoires were formulaic and the formulas worked well enough (just like the Ptolemaic model of the solar system, while dead wrong, was and is accurate enough for most navigational applications). I.E., there's no such thing as spirits (or angels or demons or gods or whatever), but the visualization of summoning them to a specific purpose accomplishes the intended goal nonetheless, for reasons which have nothing to do with spirits.
Probably the most useful of all the old grimoires is the Clavicula Solomonis, the Greater Key of Solomon the King. A lot of the Gardnerian Wiccan book of shadows was based on it. Here's a link to the GKoS in its entirety:
For a serious overview of the techniques of magick generally, try Aleister Crowley's Liber ABA. Here's the link:
Most of the old Grimiores were written by priests and involve forcing demons to do your bidding by spiritually torturing them. That is just no way to get any spirit to do what you want. I've made friends with several by making an astral "middle ground" to meet on. They can be great friends and fiercely protective if they are handled right
