You could have a yard sale of all your old and unwanted things and donate the money to an organization like "Toys for Tots." You could get a few volunteers and get with an organization that helps rebuild houses/communities that have been destroyed in natural disasters. Last year I volunteered at a homeless shelter christmas night and helped serve food to over 500 people! It was very rewarding to me and I had fun meeting all the different types of people with amazing stories.

Make "care" packages for OLD PEOPLE. They are often on very fixed incomes, which means they have to make do with much less.
They don't need toys or knick knacks, but they DO need some basics, like underwear, or shampoo, or even simple toilet paper. Things we take for granted, but which those trying to eat and pay their bills have to consider...
Everyone always wants to give toys for children. There are others besides children on this planet who could use some Christmas cheer and gifts.
Also consider donating pet food to rescue organizations. Or Pet toys. Many homeless dogs and cats would love a toy. More than kids, sometimes...
Yeah, the gift baskets may not look like much, but I can guarantee they will be more appreciated than you can ever believe.
