Organized Religions Are Not Interested in Peace
Organized religions have created wars  just like politicians have done. Their names may be different... politicians fight for socialism, for communism, for fascism, for nazism, and organized religions have been fighting for God, for love, for their concept of what truth is. And millions of people have been killed in the clashes between Christians and Mohammedans, between Christians and Jews, between Mohammedans and Hindus, between Hindus and Buddhists. Religion has nothing to do with war; it is a search for peace. But organized religions are not interested in peace ? they are interested in becoming more and more powerful and dominant.
Quotes of Osho, from The Hidden Splendor

Prayer is not the right kind of religion. Any religion that is based on prayer is a wrong religion. Only religions which are based on meditation have some quality of religiousness, because meditation takes you inwards to your very foundation of life, to the source of your consciousness.

Prayer is simply insane. Raising your hands upwards -- and there is nobody. When people talk to nobody you call them mad. If somebody is talking to nobody you will immediately take him to the hospital: something is wrong with this man, he was standing under a tree and there was nobody and he was talking and having a good dialogue!

What is Christianity doing? And what are other prayer religions doing? Talking to nobody.

These are insane people who need psychiatric help. And because every family teaches you hypocrisy, you become schizophrenic. You have your individuality repressed by a personality given by your family -- you are divided into two. You will remain always in conflict, fighting within yourself, with yourself. You will become two. You can become many, it depends .

Maybe, unless you use the Word of God as Chakras. I am a Christian, but I use to practice Taoism and found the meditation very helpful. I don't see any reason why Taoism, for example, or at least certain parts of it, can't be combined with Christianity.

i don't see a problem with this : )
i've always been very interested in how the human body works, and it's very evident that from a realistic point of view, the body does have chakras. meditating and training your body couldn't possibly be a bad thing, as we're even ordered to fast, and to treat our body's as holy temples!
i wouldn't recomend meditating on anything to whacky, as that's just inviting trouble, but i'm quite a naruto fan myself 😉

Deuteronomy 12
29 The LORD your God will cut off before you the nations you are about to invade and dispossess. But when you have driven them out and settled in their land,
30 and after they have been destroyed before you, be careful not to be ensnared by inquiring about their gods, saying, "How do these nations serve their gods? We will do the same."
31 You must not worship the LORD your God in their way, because in worshipping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the LORD hates.
The same applies today because -
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
THE FOLLOWING IS A COPY OF EMAILS TO AND FROM ME REGARDING CHAKRAS:
Subject: worshipping other gods : )
Message: you made an excellent point, however, i feel you may have slightly misunderstood the question of meditating on chakras. it's not actually a form of worship in any way i am aware of, it is simply away of getting in touch with your body, and thinking deeply. it may be depicted in religious ways in tv shows or movies, but the essence of meditation is simply thinking deeply (which i'd encourage in churches)
how do you feel about meditation?
i'm wondering if you've heard bad things about it or anything like that ^^
MY ANSWER:
chakras
—noun Yoga.
any of the points of spiritual power located along the body, usually given as six in number. The points are personified by gods and can be released through the proper exercises.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/chakras
You state 'the essence of meditation is simply thinking deeply'.
Quite so!
I would be inclined to focus on things of God -
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
There is a lot of evil out there that God hates, but Satan is deceiving us to believe the opposite.
That is obvious by some of the questions and many of the answers.
We will answer to God for every thought, act and word. Let's try to keep them acceptable to Him.
I do not meditate in the accepted sense. I usually just focus on gratitude to God - while resting in my recliner chair (I am 60, with a few health problems), I think on all the blessings and provisions I have from God - while walking I praise Him for all I see, homes for people, gardens, sun-rises and sets.
I do not know anything bad, specifically about meditation except the suggestion to 'empty your mind' while doing so. Satan loves a vacuum and will send demons to fill it.

Pamela's ans hits it dead on. I would also like to add that if you learned christian or biblical meditation you wouldn't need to go looking for a spiritual life in some dead end religious practice. I studied eastern meditation for years before returning to the Lord and His meditation which mostly remains a mystery to many christians. there are many christian teachers who can guide you such as the writings of Madame Guillione and others who take seriously the command to"be still and know that I am God".

Within you is a spark of the Divine Creator - this is pure energy. It is taught that the we should regard our bodies as the Temple. Meditation and working with chakras has some very positive effects on our over all health, not to mention that it helps to raise our vibration level and assists us in putting everyday problems into perspective. It promotes clearer thinking and enhances our abilities to remain calm during stressful events in our lives. This is a spiritual exercise that you're talking about and will allow a closer link between you and many of those in the angelic realm who are presently assisting you on your spiritual journey. Don't be surprised if you begin receiving direct messages from some them. It is a fascinating experience.
In the end, of course, you must decide within yourself. You are not harming anybody and you know it will have a positive effect. If you still feel uncomfortable, it never hurts to say a quick prayer and ask for the Creator's blessing before each session and a quick prayer afterwards, for granting you a tool that will help in your spiritual development.
Blessings, Nick

It's clean--just a visual way of explaining my answer. It's Wiley's "Non Sequitur" comic from October 29th.

Clearly evident is the eastern religion spirituality, which influences many New Age and eastern religious spiritual-based practices, such as yoga, Reiki, and Transcendental Meditation. All of these are occult based practices and must be avoided by Catholics. The most interesting reference is the Kundalini Serpent - the eighth Chakra - since it is clearly stated in Catholic teaching that the serpent is the devil and satan (Genesis chapter 3, Apocalypse chapter 12).
One will also notice the total lack of acknowledgement of God as our Father who created us and loves us. The focus is on inner self, sometimes referred to as the "god source." This corresponds exactly with the fact that the real serpent satan told Adam and Eve that they would be as gods by believing their inner self and ignoring the true God's request (Genesis chapter 3). There is no mention of dependence on God nor on His Grace. Rather the focus is "consciousness," again the inner self, which has elements of Gnosticism, and self improvement through means of merely human techniques. Such a spirituality treats the person is his own being or god. All these concepts go directly against the First Commandment and incorporate within them the following elements:
occult: relying on powers other than God and His Grace to obtain things, such as health, prosperity, etc.
atheism: denial of God as a loving Father; instead "god" is a state of consciousness.
idolatry: worship of anything other than the true God, which in this case is self or consciousness.

Thank you Virgina and Pamela as your reasoned answered helped me develop a reasonable answer to the question. I really appreciated the answer based on the definition that they are personified by gods and how it is focused on developing inner or god-self. I think Nick is probably a new ager from the way he is talking but that is my opinion.
This may be a bit controversial but in my experience a Christian who opens himself up to false religious experiences such as opening chakras and experiencing his "inner" self or the kundalini (serpent/demon) experience within opens himself up to demons. Clearly kundalini is a demon. To be clear I became demonized and over time felt like I had less control over my physical body and something else was controlling me often times and it turned me away from scripture and prayer and got me into some weirdness and wackiness or time-wasting activities. To see references that support the idea that Christians can be demonized please see this link (the whole link covers OT and NT references of believers being demonized) http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/demon1.html
Do not give the devil a foothold is one simple reference (Eph 4:27) as is the Deuteronomic verse to not take on the practices of the worshippers of foreign/false deities.
Blessings!

Oh how "afraid" we've taught ourselves to be! Here we are, we have all these untapped potentials and undicovered abilities... yet we don't USE any of them for fear of the damn "boogie-man!" But it is FORBIDDEN, you say. You know what? THAT is the devil (the "dark mind") talking! And he , she, and or "it" just loves the fact that we are all too damn "scared" to DO anything or try anything "new!" Then we forbid our own children to venture out into the world of spiritual discovery, even to the extent that we don't even want them learning philosophy or even "poetry!" What a "shame!"

There is a simple answer. Pray to whomever your own God is, Jesus, Buddha, Muhammed, your higher power, etc. and ask for guidance. If you listen, you will know which path to take. Everyone is entitled to their own spiritual beliefs. Making fun of them is not serving anyone, FatDawg.

These things do exist in Christianity too, but are never to be manipulated by man as if he were a mechanic. There are plenty Christian mystics of the distant and not so past who practiced fixed postures, breath control, mantra recitation, and even kundalini, like for instance the Quakers and the Shakers, but they resorted to divine Grace as the sole solver of every problem of the intimate parts of the soul. The reals mystics of india behaved also the same and never practised mere magic to open chakras or awaken kundalini, they also referred rather to Grace as a kind of descending energy from Heaven as being the only beneficial energy and of kundalini as divine too but of the nature of divine wrath and discontent. Speaking too loudly about chakras and energies is spiritual strip partying and pornography, it has rather to be veiled and left alone to God as to a spouse for really satisfying results. One should never take up the initiative of doing those thing oneself without the guidance of a master within your religious order of call. Opening chakras all the time is no sign of evolution, these doors of the soul have to be open to real acts of charity and closed otherwise, like the gates of a castle.
