Taoism basically boils down to learning how to live by observing nature. You learn how to do things the right way by looking for examples in nature. Life is easy if you go with life instead of going against it.
The best example I can think of is the parable about the butcher and the Ox. http://www.taoism.net/chuang/butcher.htm
Lao Tzu is generally considered the father of Taoism. He wrote the Tao Te Ching.
Chuang Tzu is another sage and an important figure in Taoism. He wrote the something else>> give me time to look through my books.. Hmm.. I guess it was just a collection of teachings.

Stop being a human doing, and be a human 'BEing'.
Thats about as simple as it gets.
As for Lao-tzu and Chuang-tzu - that's what Google is for.

You may want to read "The Tao of Pooh" by Benjamin Hoff. It gives you a pretty good feel for Taoism. You can get it at a library--it's really well known.
