I would like to completely forget some events that happened this year. They say every experience makes you stronger and grow but some bad experiences only traumatize. Can hypnosis block out these bad events from my mind? I see in movies that the reverse can be done.

In short, no. But therapy, maybe even hypnosis therapy, can help you get through the pain. I firmly believe that there isn't a single event that ONLY traumatizes you and doesn't give you an opportunity to grow. If you're still alive, then you will survive the pain, and afterwards, you'll be stronger than before, with a better understanding of who you are and what you want out of life.
The more you fight the memories, the stronger they will grow. If you can accept the events, or at least accept the pain you feel around these events, then you will heal much more quickly.
I'm sorry that you went through something so traumatic. I wish you well.

Hypnosis works on the controlling of nerves in the brain along but those nerves have to be willing to comply. FIrst off you can't hypnotize the unwilling, and same when u r, if you wouldnt normally be willing, your body will resist.

No. Hypnosis cannot be used to "forget" memories - that's only in the movies. Hypnosis can only be used to retrieve those which have already been forgotten - - and even then, hypnosis is a guess-and-check procedure, with little success. Often, it will take multiple counselling sessions with the practicing psychiatrist before he/she is even ready to attempt the hypnosis.
There's really nothing magical about hypnosis - it pretty much just "excersises" your brain, and sort of shows your subconscious how to recall different inforamtion in different ways. It's only about recollection techniques, though. There's no way to teach your brain how to forget something.
At least, in publically practiced hypnosis anyway......

Hello Maria
Sorry to hear that your having problems.
As a hypnotherapist the answer has to be no. But hypnosis can offer many means for you to work through your issues, to help alleviate your thoughts.
Unfortunately there are no magic cures, wish there was my darling. Never trust the medias portrayal of anything!
Events that happen to us, however bad, can be learned from, so when your ready take steps to get the guidance that you need whether from a good friend, Dr or hypnotherapist.
In Peace
Pam
