Believers in reincarnation, what happens when you fail the task you were supposed to accomplish in a life?
depends on the viewpoint in question.
The buddhist one is that you're brought back with all the negative behaviour flaws you had last time as they become ingraned into you - if you were selfish, you will come back as a selfish person and will keep coming back as a selfish person until you can let go of that. So its' not so mucha "failing a task", rather "not learning from life". Karma they call it, which equally leads to good life last time = good life this time, etc.
The rest is up to you, but most believe you come back again until you've learned your lesson in one way or another.
Er, actually, there are two options, two visions of the time, in my own interpretation of a Buddhist thought.
1- Time as a cycle, as in the ancient greek mystical, or as in Nietzsche's "eternal return", belonging to a post-nihilism kind of vision... which are a bit different than the Buddhist "vacuity". Okay, so time repeats itself, destiny, etc. The freedom you have belongs to your consciousness of this fact, and, to your ability to "feel" the "show" which is passing off in front of your eyes. So, you will live many other lifes, you have lived many others, plus this one, and everything will repeat. So, this visions implies NO such things as a "judgement" - Okay ?
2- "Karma"... You know that, uh ? If you do good, you will reincarnate in a cool life, if you do bad, you will reincarnate in a bad life, If you do a "perfect", then you hit the jackpot - Nirvana, kaboom !!.. "game - over - you - win !" (Okay, okay, I know, things are not so easy, but hey, this is Yahoo, I won't write you an entire book) 😉
Rinse and repeat.
I'm with Timothy A. Rinse and repeat. Why are you Bitmap now? I liked Gaia.
