Does the Bible mention anything about astral projection?

I was just curious about this topic. Does anyone know?

  1. God tells us to turn to him and renounce the occult.
Many people, including Christians, think it’s harmless to look at astrological charts or engage in various forms of spiritism. They think it is fun or entertaining.
Others look to astrology, divination, and mediums for guidance, not just entertainment.
But God clearly warns against such practices in many Bible verses. Some reasons the Scriptures warn against engaging in any form of the occult:
We are opening ourselves up to spirits other than God’s.
We are not looking to God for guidance, but to the occult.
We are turning away from true faith in Jesus.
We are disobeying God’s Word, the Bible.
The Israelites often made the same mistake and turned from God, although God clearly warned them about this.
When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the LORD your God. The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so (Deuteronomy 18:9-14).
Saul, Israel’s first king, started out well. He expelled mediums and spiritists from the land, yet then violated God’s word and his own conscience by consulting a medium (1 Samuel 28:3-25). His end was tragic (1 Samuel 31:1-6).
New Testament Christians turned from sorcery. Let their example serve as an inspiration and a warning.
Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed their evil deeds. A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas. In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power (Acts 19:18-20).
These verses are given to us as warnings. God wants us to learn from the examples he gives in the Bible, and to avoid making the same mistakes. He loves us and wants us to turn from anything that will get between us and the joyful life he offers!
Bible verses warning about mediums and spiritists
Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God (Leviticus 19:31).
I will set my face against the person who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute himself by following them, and I will cut him off from his people (Leviticus 20:6).
When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? (Isaiah 8:19).
    Bible verses warning about astrology
And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars–all the heavenly array–do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the LORD your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven (Deuteronomy 4:19).
… and contrary to my command has worshiped other gods, bowing down to them or to the sun or the moon or the stars of the sky (Deuteronomy 17:3).
All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame. Here are no coals to warm anyone; here is no fire to sit by. That is all they can do for you–these you have labored with and trafficked with since childhood. Each of them goes on in his error; there is not one that can save you (Isaiah 47:13-15).
Hear what the LORD says to you, O house of Israel. This is what the LORD says: “Do not learn the ways of the nations or be terrified by signs in the sky, though the nations are terrified by them” (Jeremiah 10:1-2).
In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom (Daniel 1:20).
Bible verses warnings about divination, sorcery and magic charms
Do not practice divination or sorcery (Leviticus 19:26).
Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against your magic charms with which you ensnare people like birds and I will tear them from your arms; I will set free the people that you ensnare like birds (Ezekiel 13:20).
The idols speak deceit, diviners see visions that lie; they tell dreams that are false, they give comfort in vain. Therefore the people wander like sheep oppressed for lack of a shepherd (Zechariah 10:2).
“So I will come near to you for judgment. I will be quic

  2. There is some reference about one of the apostles being caught up into the third heaven, I haven’t researched it. I think it was John.

  3. Yes. I remember reading/hearing about one of the Apostle were travelling in their own spirit, go figure.

  4. There is the possibility that it does. Paul says to the Corinthians:
1Cr 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
The Greek is translated “glass” in the KJV, but what it refers to is a mirror. Mirrors were not made of glass in those days they were made of polished metal. In english it appears that the writers is saying he is looking through a smudged or dirty window but he actually means that he sees “unclearly in a mirror”. Astral projection is often attempted using a mirror.

  5. “Astral projection (or astral travel) is an esoteric interpretation of any form of out-of-body experience (OOBE) that assumes the existence of an “astral body” separate from the physical body and capable of travelling outside it. Astral projection or travel denotes the astral body leaving the physical body to travel in the astral plane.” (Wikipedia.org)
The Bible teaches that the soul IS our body:
    “’The first man Adam *became* a living soul.’ . .” — 1 Corinthians 15:45, see also:Genesis 2:7b
(It does not say that he ‘came to have’ a soul.)
“The soul that is sinning–it itself will die.” –Ezekiel 18:4
It also shows that the spirit that gives us life is God’s spirit –similar to how electricity ‘gives life to appliances– which ‘goes back to him’ when we die, in the sense that it will now be used for other purposes. It is not a thing in & of itself, but rather the provision & maintenance of life…
“Is the Holy Spirit a Person?”
    – What the Bible Says
    – What Is the Holy Spirit?
    “Is There Life After Death?”
    – Do You Have an Immortal Spirit?
So, ‘astral projection’ is the erroneous assumption that something which is *not* true, is…
And, God’s Word says very definitely that:
“. . .True worshipers will worship the Father with spirit *and* truth, for, indeed…
God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him *must* worship with spirit and *truth*.” –John 4:23,24
“…Jehovah is near to all those calling upon him,
To all those who call upon him in trueness.” –Psalm 145:18
“Look out: perhaps there may be someone who will carry you off as his prey through the philosophy & empty deception according to tradition of men… not according to Christ.” –Colossians 2:8
“For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories.” –2 Timothy 4:3,4
The belief that near-death experiences indicate that there is life after death, & that people are each individual spirits that reside in fleshly bodies, is nowhere taught in Scripture. In fact, it is of pagan origin, from very long ago…
Medical science has shown that near-death experiences are caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain, which sometimes causes what some describe as hallucinations—Not a reason to doubt Bible teachings.

  6. Here’s an angel actively encouraging it. Revelation 4 1-2:
…”Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven…
Rev 17:3: Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a desert.
Rev 21:10: And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.

  7. Â
Â A forbidden practice is something that is an abomination to the Lord. This means Gods hates these things and does not want His children to have any thing to do with them. God tells us very clearly nine things that He hates. “When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. here shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God (Deuteronomy 18:9-13).
God wants us to stay away from these things, not because He wants to control us, or deprive us of anything, but because He loves us, and knows these things are very dangerous. He wants us to stay away from these things regardless of what form they are in. For example, these occult practices may be the theme of a game, or a movie, or a book. If any of these themes are in something, do yourself a favor and avoid it.

  8. Yes it does, but not in that exact terminology:
Ex.3:1-7 The Angel of the Lord was in Egypt and Astro projected himself to Moses in a burning bush while as Moses was in the wilderness tending sheep.
If you read the chapter carefully, you will note that the angel said : COME now therefore and I will send you unto Pharaoh that thou mayest bring fort my people.
If the angels wasn’t in Egypt ALREADY upon speaking to Moses in the bush, he would have said : GO now therefore.
So that angels was in one place while projecting himself to be in another…….. That Angels was in the man known to us as Joshua the son of Nun ( Or NONE ) if you note, there is no record by Moses of a BIRTH of Joshua.
Even though he appear as just a SERVANT of Moses, he is MUCH MUCH greater as you will find in the book of Joshua 24th Chp. where Joshua declares that he is the one to SEND Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh.
That proves that he was the one as the Angel that appear and said COME now therefore and I will SEND you unto Pharaoh.
Jesus being on the ship, yet Astro projected his spirit form as walking on water ( Matt.14 ) this is a great mystery.

  9. I’ve been reading all these comments, and I can’t help to notice that everyone is jumping to conclusions.
    In example, Horsense said:
The Bible teaches that the soul IS our body:
    “’The first man Adam *became* a living soul.’ . .” – 1 Corinthians 15:45, see also:Genesis 2:7b
(It does not say that he ‘came to have’ a soul.)
Yet in that verse it does not say that our bodies are our souls. It COULD mean that. Although it could mean the opposite. Using ‘living’ as an adjective for soul sounds more of a reference that it’s not just a soul, it’s a LIVING soul; a tangible, physical being.
The bible is interpretable. As is every religious teaching. Giving verses with your own interpretations is not going to get you far in an argument. In the bible especially, there are many ways to interpret a single verse. And to truly understand it, you’d have to be extremely open-minded. And even then, you may never know what it means exactly. When a verse says that an angel has taken someone somewhere threw the spirit, it’s supposed to mean threw God, The Spirit. But even that is upon interpretation.
Personally, I’d say that to truly understand what God wants you to do, or not do, you should pray. Ask him, and things should open up for you. Either right away, or slowly over time. Praying has helped open my mind to the bible extremely, and realize better what the bible means.

  10. Witchcraft, divination, consulting the dead, snake charming, charms, wizardry, and other pagan practices are forbidden. Most of them rely on unclean spirits, and demons. However, Astral Projection is not a pagan-only practice. In the Old and New testaments, Astral Projection was used for good, and for showing prophets and apostles things. Ezeikiel often left his physical body. So did Paul, John, and other apostles. Paul also said “there is a physical body, and there is a spiritual body”. Astral projection is mentioned in the Bible, and it is not a sin. However, caution should be taken. There are many devils and unclean spirits who could easily harm you if you were not well protected.

  11. Well, what about those of us who have not chosen to astro project but find themselves always doing it. I have been doing it for years without realizing until recently when I found out my father who is a pastor has had theses experiences as well. I am trying to find ways to prevent myself from doing so but i can’t control it and I am quite frankly tired of seeing demons and different spirits waiting for me to do so. How can it be an abomination when obviously God gave me this gift for a reason.

  12. 2 Corinthians 12:1-4 I must go on boasting. Though there is nothing to be gained by it, I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven–whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows. 3 And I know that this man was caught up into paradise–whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows– 4 and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter.
