Does meditation really make you a better fighter?

I always thought it was hard physical training and the will to become better is what make you a great martial artist. I personally think meditation is well….Not necessary. That’s what I think, what about you, I did not mean any offense, but please speak you mind.

  1. I believe so. Most people believe its important to train not only your body, but your mind as well. One cannot live without the other. If you are in top peak condition, but your a little slow, how are you gonna learn your technique, much less implement it in a fight.
Meditation calms the mind, and makes you more aware of your surroundings. It also put’s you in the right mindset, and that is, that you are going to go out there, and crush your opponent. Studies show that if you have the right mindset before you go into anything, you do 33% better.

  2. If you meditate before a fight, you will be more calm, therefore letting you focus more. If you don’t, you most likely won’t be able to focus as well.

  3. it is an essential part of the process.. to focus on truly what you want out of the art, and to clear your head before you fight/practice I think meditation is a great way to get everything out of your head except your goal in whatever you are doing.. if you go into a fight or class not focused then you could wind up either in a world of hurt, or missing an important lesson.. meditation doesn’t have to be sitting cross legged saying “ohm” it could be running your game plan through your head or like alot of fighters, listening to pregame music to psych you up.. there are lots of ways to focus on the task at hand and clear your thoughts..
