Does anyone understand the psychology behind certain dreams?

I had a somewhat disturbing dream the other night that someone very close and dear to me was trying to kill me. Why would my subconscious mind imagine something like that? Especially since, as stated above, this person is very dear to me.

  1. Weird. As much as you love them… maybe you suspect something of them? Or maybe you’ve wronged them and our guilty, invisioning the worst consequence of your action. A chase “to the death” is a very intimate experience. This may also simply be showing yourself subconciously that this person is one you can share anything with… even your most intimate of secrets.

  2. I used to read into every dream I had thinking it meant something and then I found out that dreams are really only our brain processing thoughts that we had during the day and didn’t have time to deal with it. It could be something you have thought about and pushed it aside (and not necessarily them wanting to kill you but maybe some other issue, as Stevo C said) not wanting to think about it or maybe not having time to think about it. So try and keep a journal or talk it out with the person in question so it doesn’t come during the night in dreams and seem so scary. Don’t worry, like I said it’s just your brain trying to deal with your issues.

  3. Dreams our just our brain trying to deal with issues of the day that we didn’t have time to deal with whilst awake. I used to read into every dream I had thinking it meant something then I found out that our brain can’t deal with everything that happens during daytime so at night it processes all these thoughts in the best way it can. It doesn’t mean that this person wants to kill you but maybe there are other issues at hand both of you need to deal with so either talk it out or keep a journal.
