Rose quartz is a type of quartz which exhibits a pale pink to rose red hue. The color is usually considered as due to trace amounts of titanium, iron, or manganese, in the massive material. Some rose quartz contains microscopic rutile needles which produces an asterism in transmitted light. Recent X-ray diffraction studies suggest that the color is due to thin microscopic fibers of possibly dumortierite within the massive quartz.
In crystal form (rarely found) it is called Pink quartz and its color is thought due to trace amounts of phosphate or aluminium. The color in crystals is apparently photosensitive and subject to fading. The first crystals were found in a pegmatite found near Rumford, Maine, USA, but most crystals on the market come from Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Everything you need to know about quartz (or any other mineral for that matter) The pink is just caused by titanium, manganese, or iron impurities.

As quoted from the below website:

Here ya go….
“Rose quartz is found in Madagascar, India, Germany and several localities in the USA. Much rose quartz was extracted from a famous site near Custer, South Dakota, but now, most of the worlds supply of good carvable rose quartz comes from Brazil.”

PS – Am I the only one who knows how to Google stuff?

Having come from South Dakota, I was going to mention that one. There is some wonderful rose quartz there and some of it is gem quality and some even has some asterism meaning there are tiny inclusions of crystals that make a star. My minerally professor showed us where it could be found.

As everyone else has said, rose quartz is the pale pink to rose variety of quartz (SiO2) colored by titanium, manganese and iron and is now mined primarily in Brazil, although it can still be found in other localities as well. Rose quartz generally does not form in the standard hexagonal trigonal crystals as other varieties of quartz, and is almost always found in the massive, or microcrystalline form.
Also keep in mind that much of the rose quartz used in jewelry and beading is dyed milky quartz and is from all over the world.
Try this site as well: http://www.mindat.org/

Rose quartz is fairly common in certain parts of the country.
I have collected in quaries in New Hampshire ans Maine.
Use the website http://www.mindat.org
and go to the search page and search by location
Enter rose quartz for mineral name and then put it in the state you are interested in for location.
It will show all the sites where it has been found in that state.
You may not find it in all states
If you tell us what state and area you live near we can give you some ideas of where to look for it.

54. Hi, Neat post. There’s an issue along with your website in internet explorer, may check this¡K IE still is the market leader and a good element of folks will leave out your magnificent writing due to this problem.
