Do you think it is only through a conscious mind that the subconscious can be reached ?

…if you disagree, what other means are there ?

  1. Fact is, the subconscious was there first! It is aware of all and operates the functions of your body, that is it co-ordinates them, continually throughout your life. It is the conscious mind which is the intruder and has arrived on the scene of life at a later date. Consequently, it is by Meditation that you quieten the conscious mind and allow the subconscious to move forward, take over, so to speak, and this is done in order to contact the superconscious mind, the Christ. There is more but this will do for now.

  2. Whats to say we’re conscious in the beginning? Or that there is a subconscious? Maybe there’s a meso-consciousness that we all float in an out of. Lets go with there is a conscious, simply because to be knocked out it to be unconscious and everyone who isn’t knocked out or in such a state can be counted as conscious. We may travel into our subconscious in our dreams or possibly our wake fantasies. We may expose parts of our mystery subconscious in our imaginations and possibly reveal them through expression. But to say we can take a bus ride into the deepest unexplored part of our minds?? Well, first you have to have one, and second…id try meditation. So i guess what I’m saying is yes.

  3. Does intuition go from the front to the back and back out? Do dreams come from my conscious experiences only? Is the subconscious mind a piece of meat or does it have its’ own internal processes? Where does the energy for these processes arise? Is instinct a conscious drive with subconscious effects?
The subconscious mind is in effect a funnel, a mile wide at the back and thinner than the eye of a needle where it meets the conscious mind.
My conscious and subconscious mind are not separated properly, so I have personal insight into this issue. When I don’t drown it out, my every thought is an “echo” of what my subconscious is addressing, and believe me, it comes in from the back, not the other way around.

1: perceiving, apprehending, or noticing with a degree of controlled thought or observation.
2 archaic: sharing another’s knowledge or awareness of an inward state or outward fact.
    3: personally felt.
4: capable of or marked by thought, will, design, or perception.
    5: self-conscious.
6: having mental faculties undulled by sleep, faintness, or stupor: awake.
7: done or acting with critical awareness.
8 a: likely to notice, consider, or appraise b: being concerned or interested c: marked by strong feelings or notions.
Existing in the mind but not immediately available to consciousness.
According to the dictionary definitions, the answer to your question is yes. I am a person who prospers in my conscious mind and in positive controlled thought and observation. My past exists in my subconscious.

  5. probably the opposite, your subconscious is like a camra recording all your past actions and burning it into the back of your head. it gives us character in a positive or negative way depending on our how well we think we did in the past. listen to your dreams, medatate, spaceout.

  6. disagree.
how can we even know that there is an subconscious mind?
if all we ever think with is our conscious mind, and a subconscious mind is something that we don’t know that we’re thinking with…how would we ever know if we reached it?
because to reach a subconscious mind you have to use your conscious mind, so that when you thought you had reached the subconscious part of your mind, wouldn’t it turn into your conscious mind?
it would be impossible to reach your subconscious, or to prove that it exists since for it to be subconscious we would have to have no conscious knowledge of it…
    hahahaha mindfuck!

  7. Yes… It is only through the conscious mind that anything can be understood. All knowledge is gained through the conscious minds’ interpretation of the information gained through the senses. Every experience; sight, smell, touch etc, must be processed by the mind to be of any use at all to us. (The eye perceives images upside down and must be inverted by the brain before we can even ‘see’ anything.)
Because the term ‘subconscious’ can mean various things in different contexts, there is a tendency for confusion and consequently the subconscious can be sometimes even worshipped/venerated to a religious degree.
You nailed it with, “if you disagree, what other means are there ?” there are no other means…

  8. Challenging question but more psychological than philosophic as there are many doctors doing many amazing things to do exactly what you are asking, trying to reach the subconscious by any means possible.
    The answer is No.
You can try sleep therapy. You can try hypnosis.
You can try a treatment that sets up blocks in you conscious to try and avoid it all together. that is a radical idea but it is theoretically possible to train a person’s brain to see anything but reality. Call it brain washing.
The whole answer would be huge to show you all the possibilities but I think the answer is complete in its brevity and points you in the right direction.
You might want to look into post traumatic stress disorders too. there is a lot of research on the subconscious in that area.
