The Meditation technique taught at Dhamma Vaddhana ( Southern California Vipassana Center ) is Vipassana, the technique the Buddha used to achieve enlightenment.The technique of Vipassana Meditation is taught at ten-day residential courses during which participants learn the basics of the method, and practice sufficiently to experience its beneficial results. The Southern California Vipassana Center is one of over Hundreds of international centers and numerous non-center sites where the technique of Vipassana meditation is taught and practiced.
Dhamma Vaddhana is Spreaded over 154 acre, property is desert landscape with ten new custom-designed buildings with modern amenities such as air conditioning.
Southern California Vipassana Center has been built with the experience of previous meditation centers to best accommodate students and servers. Beautiful vistas of desertscape and the winter snowcapped Mt. San Gorgonio can be enjoyed from the Vipassana Center.
According to the tradition of pure Vipassana, courses are run solely on a donation basis. Donations are accepted only from those who have completed at least one ten-day Vipassana course. Someone taking the course for the first time may give a donation on the last day of the course or any time thereafter.
Southern California Vipassana Center is located just North of Joshua Tree National Park in Twentynine Palms, CA. It is a 2-1/2 hr. drive from the Los Angeles and San Diego metropolitan areas. It is possible to reach the Center using public transportation with careful planning in advance, but requires multiple buses that run on a limited schedule and a full day of travel. The rideshare board is the recommended option.
