Can you explain this? Has this ever happened to you?

But last week, for three days in a row, I woke up between 3 am and 3:30 am. Whenever I woke up, I would have a sense of dread, of sadness. It would take me hours before I get back to sleep.
Fast forward to this week; Last night, I called my friend after not talking to her for weeks (busy schedule on both our parts). She had been on my mind for the past few days and she told me her mom died (last year she was diagnosed with cancer; it was caught early, so the prognosis looked very good, but my friend told me that the cancer unexpectedly spread and finally took her mom). Her mom died at 3 in the morning.
I just found out today that my brother was admitted to the hospital. My sister said that they were running the test results and would probably know by three.
I am a bit nervous. I am not religious or spiritual….I don’t even believe in psychics, but this is not the first time I have awakened at 3 am (or a little bit after the time) to this sense of dread or sadness. It takes me several days to shake it and usually, something tragic happens just within a week of me having this bout of insomnia or sleep disturbance.
Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I also sometimes feel like something is moving in my house.
I consider myself to be a rational person. I don’t do drugs and I do not consume alcohol except during social events, and I haven’t had any alcohol since Saturday (a glass of wine). People who know me know that I don’t spook easily and am very much a skeptic, but I am beginning to wonder what is going on with me.

  1. Atheists are purveyors of a wicked plot
“Six things there are, which the Lord hateth, and the seventh His soul detesteth: haughty eyes, A LYING TONGUE, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that deviseth wicked plots, feet that are swift to run into mischief, A DECEITFUL WITNESS THAT UTTERETH LIES, AND HIM THAT SOWETH DISCORD AMONG BRETHREN.”
    Prov 6:16-19

  2. Nothing, If your brother wasn’t ill you would find something else your 3 am waking was portending.
Your brain is a pattern hungry organ and it will try to make connections to unrelated events. It is a survival trait.

  3. My husband is very sensitivie to strange sorts of feelings or impressions and he has found from experience that he does well to pay attention to such impressions. He is an artist, so perhaps that is connected. If he gets a bad feeling about a person, he is cautious. If he gets a bad feeling about a building or a room, he stays away from it. He will also suddenly start thinking about a person, for no reason, then within a short time that person will phone or visit.
When he wakes up at night, it’s because his mind is churning something over. A cup of tea and a look at some French language books for half an hour gets him back to sleep no trouble! Our body systems run down to their lowest point in the small hours of the morning. That’s when deaths most often occur. It’s not a psychic thing. I’m really sorry to hear of those bereavements. Prayer is a wonderful help at such times. I hope your normal sleep pattern returns soon.
