  1. Taoists follow something that’s sort of hard to be explained in words… it’s the Tao, this sort of force. My best advice is to read the Tao Te Ching, because that’ll give you a better idea of what it’s about.

  2. Founded by Lao-Tzu (assuming he lived, there’s no real records of him and some scholars believed he was made up). He wrote a very short book called the Tao-Te-Ching, made up of little short poems. Taoism teaches, mainly, to go along with the flow. Life is good, don’t go around trying to fit square pegs in round holes and it will go better.

  3. Both answers above are right on target. It’s about balance and opposites, going with the flow. The Tao Te Ching is very short and is a good read.

  4. Three Jewels of the Tao: compassion, moderation, and humility. Taoist thought focuses on wu wei (“non-action”), spontaneity, humanism, and emptiness. An emphasis is placed on the link between people and nature, and that this link lessens the need for rules and order, leading one to a better understanding of the world.
Most traditional Chinese Taoists are polytheistic. Nature and ancestor spirits are also common in popular Taoism. Organized Taoism distinguishes its ritual activity from that of the folk religion, which some professional Taoists (Daoshi) view as debased. This sort of shamanism is eschewed for an emphasis on internal alchemy among the “elite” Taoists.

  5. On page #8 in the Zhuan Falun Lecture on the Internet –
“Daoists cultivate True, Good, Endure with an emphasis on being True. That’s why Daoists strive to, “cultivate truth and nourish inborn nature, say true words, do true things, be a truthful person, return to your original, true self, and ultimately cultivate into a True Person.” But they also have Endure, and they also have Good, it’s just that the emphasis is on cultivating the True part.”
Not relating to Buhhism, Falun Gong is a sect in the Buhhda Schools. Falun Gong is based upon the universal principals of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance.

  6. Hi Milki,
The origin of Taoism is to attain oneness with the original primordial state of consciousness, now there are many forms of Taoism, all with different intentions and purposes.
Taiji Tong Fa is the inner-mystical practises of the Nei Yuan Taoists to attain the ultimate convergence in oneself by uniting the body, the energy, the primal subconscious intention-mind, the conditioned heart-mind, the unconditioned awakened mind and the absolute oneness of the void the birthless, deathless, egoless, timeless, eternal, impersonal, unchangeable, omnipresent reality that creates, interpenetrates and transcends all matter, energy and intelligence.
The practises create a unified state that promotes longevity, health, strength, vigour, clarity and emotional calm in the midst of conditions and a continuous rejuvenating effect in all our activities, until the life that inhabits this body is ready to leave it consciously and merge into its eternal, formless, omnipresent state. It defines the true human potential that can be reached through synergetic cultivation culminating in the ultimate convergence in oneself.
Yours in the Spirit of the Way
