Can some houses contain negative energy, and what can be done to rid it?

My great grandma has lived in her house since it was built in the 1960s. It’s a creepy house, and lots of things have gone wrong in there, although there haven’t been any deaths. It’s got a very uncomfortable feeling, and as though something is watching you. I stayed there for two nights a few weeks ago and couldn’t sleep on the second night. I felt quite frightened.
My nephew saw something a few years ago and my sister, husband and kids wont go in there again. My great grandma says she also saw something but several years ago. I never have, and don’t even know if I believe in ghosts. It couldn’t be haunted anyway because my great grandma has been the only person to live there since it was built. There’s defiantly a negative atmosphere in there though.

The houses there were built on waste land that were swamps, and I was informed for the first few years afterwards they had drainage problems because the land wasn’t drained properly first. The garden would get full of water, and frogs and everything on there. There are also mine shafts underneath. We often wondered if something bad happened on the land or in the mine shafts.

  1. It sounds like your problems are more due to natural occurrances but you can always do The Lesser Banishing Ritual. Its available online.

  2. There are a few things that you can do and they really do work. One is to play some upbeat music. Nothing that is wild and loud. Just really good upbeat music. A bell well also clear negative energy.

  3. It really depends what you believe in. I DO believe in ghosts and spirits, for the fact that I’ve experienced it.
My parents house too is full of negative energy. Ever since they moved there it’s been bad, and I can feel it. Just like you are feeling something at your grandmothers house. Don’t ignore your feelings. You may have an ability of some sort.
The hard thing about spirits/ghosts is that we really don’t have much information or proof about their existence. Some believe, some don’t. Other questions some ask, are places haunted or people? Could it be something in the home or on the land?
I’m not really sure about the swamp and mine shafts. It’s very possible that bad things may have happened. It’s possible anywhere. The land and earth are very old. Swampy environments tend to be more “groggy” anyway right? It could just be from that…
but you know what, I think you are onto something about the land.
Oh, and one other thing to remember that some say, ghosts don’t have to stay in one place or be associated with a place. It could be land, object, people, etc.. Now, this is only if you believe this sort of thing. Just keep an open mind I guess.
I’m not very religious so I’m not sure I believe it is possible, but there are preists and others that do blessings. There are psychics and related, but you’d have to find someone decent which could be hard since there are a lot of fakes.
If you decide you need help with anything or would like more info or another point of view, whatever, you can send me a message on yahoo. Good luck with this!

  4. Yes, houses can contain negative energy. Everything around us is made up of energy, so when something positive or negative happens the atmosphere retains that energy like a sponge so to speak.
I know a family who purchased a home from on or those auctions, almost as soon as they moved in they noticed that the energy was oppressive, and they argued more than they ever had, they began to believe that their new dream home was haunted. They eventually consulted a psychic who informed them that their house wasn’t haunted but contained all the negative energy from the family who lost the home before them.
The psychic told them that the family had a lot of problems financially and ended up losing their home which was really traumatic for them and they just needed to do a cleansing of the home to change the atmosphere.
What I would suggest to to wash down all the walls with warm salt water, and then repaint them, I would also clean or better yet if they can afford to replace all the carpet in the home I would do that. You see carpet hold a lot of energy too. If they do both these things they should notice a huge difference in the atmosphere of their home.
    Good Luck

  5. Here is the house blessing you can do it yourself. Pray over the water you use and ask Jesus to bless it and make it Holy. He knows your heart and will hear it. All make the sign of the cross.
    begin:
Peace be with this house and with all who live here. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
    respond: Amen.
    introduce the house blessing:
Pray that Christ will enter your home and bless it with his presence. May he always be here among us; may he nurture our love for each other, share in our joys, comfort us in our sorrows. Inspired by his teachings and example, let us seek to make our home before all else a dwelling place of love, diffusing far and wide the goodness of Christ.
A reading from the letter of Paul to the Colossians
You are God’s chosen race, his saints; He loves you, and you should be clothed in sincere compassion, in kindness and humility, gentleness and patience.
Bear with one another; forgive each other as soon as a quarrel begins. The Lord has forgiven you; now you must do the same.
Over all these clothes, to keep them together and complete them, put on love.
And may the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, because it is for this that you were called together as parts of one body. Always be thankful.
    Let the message of Christ, in all its richness, find a home with you. Teach each other, and advise each other, in all wisdom. With gratitude in your hearts sing psalms and hymns and inspired songs to God;
And never say or do anything except in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
    The word of the Lord.
All Respond: Thanks be to God.
    (Alternate readings may be selected)
After the scripture reading, all go from room to room, offering prayers of intercession and sprinkling holy water, if desired. Some of the following prayers may be used.
    At the entrance:
O God, protect our going out and our coming in; Let us share the hospitality of this home
with all who visit us, that those who enter here may know your love and peace.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
    Amen.
    In the living room:
O God, give your blessings to all who share this room, that we may be knit together in companionship.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
    Amen.
    In the kitchen:
O God, you fill the hungry with good things. Send your blessing on us, as we work in this kitchen, and make us ever thankful for our daily bread.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
    Amen.
    In the dining room:
Blessed are you, Lord of heaven and earth, for you give us food and drink to sustain our lives and make our hearts glad. Help us to be grateful for all your mercies, and mindful of the needs of others.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
    Amen.
    In the bedrooms:
Protect us, Lord, as we stay awake; watch over us as we sleep, that awake we may keep watch with Christ, and asleep, we may rest in his peace.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
    Amen.
    In the bathroom:
Blessed are you, Lord of heaven and earth. You formed us in wisdom and love. Refresh us in body and in spirit, and keep us in good health that we might serve you.
Grant this through Christ our Lord
    Amen.
Return to the starting place. A cross or icon is kissed by each person, and then put in a permanent place of honor. A candle may be lighted before it.
    recite the Lord’s Prayer.
The speak the prayer of blessing:
Be our shelter, Lord, when we are at home, our companion when we are away,
and our welcome guest when we return. and at last receive us into the dwelling place
you have prepared for us in your Father’s house, where you live for ever and ever.
    Amen.
make the sign of the cross concludes:
May the peace of Christ rule in our hearts, and may the word of Christ in all its richness
dwell in us, so that whatever we do in word and in work, we will do in the name of the Lord.
    Amen.

  6. If u r a person who believes in ghosts ie. earth bound spirits I advice u to get a priest to bless the house or get some professional help like ghost hunters or a medium to communicate.
