I’m kind of at a crossroads in my life. I don’t want to let my Christian values go; I’ve had them all my life and they truly helped me through rough times. I’m leaning all these new things and really believe in spiritual healing. I’ve gone to see a Shaman twice now, and I believe in journeying and all that stuff.
None of this stuff is in the Bible, but in one of my journeys, I saw Jesus. My question is, can someone believe in both, without letting one or the other go?
Thanks in advance!

No. There is no room for anything in Christianity of the occult, and that is what “shamanism” is.
No way dear -it’s one or the other so choose carefully
There is no compromise with God. He shares His glory with none other.
Isa 45:5 I [am] the LORD, and [there is] none else, [there is] no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
Isa 45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that [there is] none beside me. I [am] the LORD, and [there is] none else.

2Cr 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
2Cr 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
2Cr 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
2Cr 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you,
2Cr 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
According to the Bible, Christians are to test the spirits to see whether they are from God or not. Shamanism, as far as I know, is a form of sorcery. The Bible strictly forbids sorcery.
I would say that anyone practising Shamanism will tell you that you can find a balance in life where you can hold on to both belief systems but I would also say that any Christian you ask will tell you that Shamanism is Satanic and therefore must be released from your life in order for you to live as He asks of you.
Personally, I believe that if you can find a balance that makes you happy, run with it.
“Can Shamanism and Christianity fit together?” … the simple answer equates to YES, surprisingly enough. Should you doubt the elegance of such a simple response, consider the Christian mystic or the Christian gnostic.
Yes you can believe in them both. The deeper you get into Shamanism the closer you will come to seeing the face of your God.
No. According to christianity anything but what the bible says is evil. There really isn’t much room for anything else.
If what you treasure about Christianity lies in its views about the occult, then no. If what you treasure about Christianity is its love and acceptance, then yes.
If I saw Jesus, I’d take it as a positive sign. Seeing the devil smile fondly at you would be a bad sign.
try to look up Celtic Shamanism…they have a site and there’s a couple of books i bought about it and i think it could fit fine with christianity.
in fact there are many people on the site or in the books who consider themselves christians.
no they dont go together . If perhaps you stated that you met someone who started to palm read you or give you a spirit reading and you slapped them in the face because christians dont do those things then perhaps i would applaud you…..Troubles come and you did state that your christian values helped you so i wonder why you didnt trust in God for this answer as well? Dont become the grain that fell by the wayside or grew among thorns …..we are tested by God to show those who are faithful to Him …Please repent and ask for forgiveness
In answer to the original question: yes, I know many Christians, Buddhists and Moslems who pratice shamanism and it sits comfortably with their profound faith. I can’t believe the dreadful moralising tone of the stuff written above. You can’t be serious. The Bible is full of shamanic experience, Elijah rising to the Upper World in a chariot, Moses talking to a burning bush and parting the Red Sea in the Middle World, Jacob’s Dream of a ladder to the Upper World, Jonah swallowed by his animal spirit helper, a whale … Shall I continue? Palestine and what is now Israel were lands of shamanic heritage thousands of years before Judaism existed, as archaeology shows us; a female shamans grave was discovered in Galilee only last year – a 12,000 year old site – predating organised religions by many thousands of years. ALL major world religions including Judaism and therefore Christianity derived from shamanism, which is the spiritual heritage of almost everyone alive on the planet today. Comparing it with ‘evil’ or suggesting the person asking the question should ask forgiveness is both un-christian and a clear demonstration of ignorance and fear. We are all one, isn’t that what Jesus taught? Why do religious people find that so hard to accept? I have taught shamanism to priests and ministers with the approval of their bishops.
