Can meditation be used for developing one's personality?

There are various kinds of meditation but I want one in which one can improve his or her personality as well as gain confidence. Is it possible through meditation?

  1. You need to seek a person who is well versed in meditation to guide you. What ever you gain will be by the effort you put in there is no magic bullit . Grow and learn.

  2. Yes,It can result in serenity but God only helps those who help themselves. You may have heard it. I have a far more better answer than performing meditation. It can calm you but not result as making one perfect. You have to be a firm believer of your God,And totally surrender yourself in his Almighty hands. You may be thinking these things which I am remarking as stupid but it will show a lot of improvement in your personality.Well,You are really a good thinker and follow these rules if you are meditating.
    1) Think about God,All the things he gave you,Parents, especially mother who child-beared you 9 months.
2)Thank him and keep on repeating in your heart,”God is almighty,Best,Perfect,No one is better than him”.
Just 2 simple processes and you’ll surely get your result in a rewarding way…..Remember..Don’t just say these things,But mean it.

  3. If you read the great teachers of meditation such as Suzuki Roshi, Krishnamurti, Ramana Maharshi, you will be told that meditation is a practice to help see through personality (thoughts, feelings, memories) that are of the past and not fresh in the moment. If practiced over time and diligently, meditation is like water that gently erodes what we know of as the ego.
However, because meditation practice can help to strengthen an individual’s power of attention, your life can be lived more fully and you can tap into your potential more deeply. This will give you more confidence. It is also important to understand that even though the practice is simple, it isn’t easy. Our minds are busy from long years of habit and our culture is not given to sitting still and getting quiet but to ideas of achievement. These ideas will try to interfere in your practice making it seem like very hard work. It takes diligence and discipline for meditation to be effective.
I have been practicing for seventeen years with a teacher and a group and even though I love meditation, it can still be difficult because my mind is so busy. That said, however, I wouldn’t want to go through each day now without that time. If you are interested in meditation, I have a yahoo group that sends out a daily reminder and in which I’ll try to address any concerns and questions you have about meditation. I hope this helps. Allison
