Can I do other exercises while I do yoga?

I just started yoga the other day, but i heard that if your doing yoga, you can’t do anything else – like running or aerobics. Apparently the whole point of yoga is lost if you do the other stuff? True or not?

That is not true. You can do other types of exercise as well. Running and aerobics strengthen your heart and lungs. And, you should lift weights as well (it won’t make you bulky…just stronger).

Hi Vikenza,
Many people do yoga in addition to other physical activities. Doing other activities does not take away from your yoga practice. In fact, crosstraining can be a great way to improve your practice and switch up your workout routine. Running, swimming, dance, aerobics – these are just a few examples of other types of exercise you can do in addition to yoga.
