  • All I can say to this is…if you were born psychic or like me, you were given a gift by spirit without asking for it, then you can’t be considered sinful. It’s not sinful to have a natural ability. It would be sinful to use it to gain power for yourself or to wrest control from God. The bible says not to visit mediums or fortune tellers, and that means, don’t seek them out in order to take control away from God. It doesn’t mean BEING one is sinful, which seems to confuse a lot of people. It’s talking about the motivation you use when approaching a psychic as a sin. It just means…don’t turn to psychics, turn to God for answers.

It’s possible to be a catholic and a psychic. You have to just make sure you don’t use your psychic ability in ways that contravene God’s laws or desires. So far in my experience, I’d say that’s best done by just not doing psychic work for other people. I use mine to help me navigate life, since I have Aspergers and it’s hard for me to stay safe in the social world because I can’t read social cues well. I also use it to communicate directly with God and his angels, so receive guidance and help so that I can be a better person and have more to offer others.

In that way I turn my psychic ability into a way to help people by trying to set a decent example, rather than by telling the future or doing things that God wouldn’t like.

I actually think being psychic can be an extra challenge for a christian. Psychic christians have a lot of responsibility to use their ability in a moral way.

  • Why did you ask this in a place full of psychic, medium stuff? If you really want to keep your Catholic part, shouldn’t you go to a Catholic forum, where people are taught properer about the way of God? Or is it you just want to hear what you want to hear?
Either way, no. God allows disabled people because through suffering they can enter Heaven. Similarly, why wouldn’t He allow people with extra sênses to see if they can keep themself true to His word to be worthy of Heaven?

  • Wow… People there is so much about this world you can’t even imagine..its not cut and dry ..God is multifaceted and so is everything in earth… Look and know who i seeking power and control over you and keeping you from your gift….enlighten

  • I don’t know why you would want to be Catholic once you were a medium. It’s irrelevant. I’m a medium and I can see the innate spirituality in all religions that the religions were based on. However, when man creates a beaurocratic structure to control followers, it just cheapens the spiritual message.

A medium has a direct relationship with God, or the Source of all entities so church would be irrelevant. If you would like a community to join, there are spiritual communities out there that are very gratifying.

  • I’m Rpman Catholic and im a medium, i can hear peoples thoughts, OBE, predict the future and see visions on how people died. It runs in my family. i still strongly belive in christ and the virgin Marie. I still go to church. I’ve meet the grim reeper ceveral times but i never asked to see him. it just happens.I never asked for this and i know im not crazy because I found out one of my friends was in the same boat as me the night we shared a cabin over march break and the ”activity” rose up quite a bit- she got looked in the sellar. The same ghosts keeped walking past us and we both looked at the same time and saw the same thing. she also has a natural gift that involves exorcisoms that she does just with herself unintentionlly (she could seem fine one day but then have a really bad feever and herself thinking shes a sleep get woken up by her parents and being told shes been runnning trought the house screaming for it to get of her ect.

  • Yes you can but you’d be committing mortal sin.

    Catechism of the Catholic Church:

“2116 All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to “unveil” the future.48 Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.

2117 All practices of magic or sorcery, by which one attempts to tame occult powers, so as to place them at one’s service and have a supernatural power over others – even if this were for the sake of restoring their health – are gravely contrary to the virtue of religion. These practices are even more to be condemned when accompanied by the intention of harming someone, or when they have recourse to the intervention of demons. Wearing charms is also reprehensible. Spiritism often implies divination or magical practices; the Church for her part warns the faithful against it. Recourse to so-called traditional cures does not justify either the invocation of evil powers or the exploitation of another’s credulity. “

    • What if your born medium but your tallent dint develop till later age like 14 or 13 and you were raised catholic? what are you suppose to kill your self?

  • Someone on here said that psychic/mediums are not real. I beg to differ about that. Also, demons do exist, I have had a situation in which they were more than real.
In answer to your question – as long as goodness and light are your aim in what you do, then yes, you can be a Catholic and Physchic/Medium. Do remember- all things done for the greatest good of all. Now go forth my child into the world, an astound everyone with your power of personality!

  • Before you can answer the question of whether you can be both a Psychic/Medium and a Catholic you have to get an affirmative answer to whether you can be a Psychic/Medium.

Which considering that psychic powers don’t exist means that to be both you’d have to become a fraud (don’t worry too much about that though, Christianity is a fraud as well).

  • 1. Psychics/Mediums are not real. They are fake. If you don’t believe me watch James Randi debunk the popular myth of psychics on youtube. Time and time again psychics have been proven fake.

    2. ESP is not real. I’m a PhD student in Psychology and had to study that topic. Scientific experiments have proven time and time again that ESP does not exists. Superstition is all in the mind and not realistic.

    3. Paranormal activity has shown to occur but to what extent is it factual varies. Sometimes it’s fake other times no scientific reason has been found. But it does not equate to it always being “paranormal”.

To familiarize yourself with the pseudo science of parapsychology just watch James Randi videos on youtube. You will learn most of it is bunk.

    • I’m a psychic and I’m not a fake. Though to be fair an awful lot of psychics are. And people who charge you for their services….generally stay away. Anyone can be psychic, it’s just a latent human ability, it’s nothing special.

I was given my gift spontaneously and we’ve proved it works over and over. I doubt a you tube video can debunk me, LOL, because I know I’m not faking it. I would never do something like that. Maybe, you should reconsider LOL.

There are some real psychics, it’s just that there are more fakers and money makers than genuine psychics, which gives the few of us who are ethical a bad name and makes people think we ALL fake it.

  • Being a psychic/medium is a gift, but being a Catholic is more of a “choice”. So anything is possible, as long as you live according to YOUR believes.
If you want to use your gift to help people and to good things, it’s perfectly OK if you’re still a Catholic.

    • finally someone agrees that you can still be catholic!!! I was so sad when i found out that the christiany religeons dont accept mediums and stuff just because they talk to ghosts. Im a born medium and i help them (as best as ii can.)

    • YES!!! thank you charlie! <3 finally someone who thinks its not all bad…. Seriously!! I'm a born psychic medium/ full catholic that really belives in God.

  • catholic rieglion is very in tune with the spirt world in fact in the islands voodoo is cross between catholic and witch caft

  • If you are Born Again Spiritually ‘you’ are supposed to be Transformed from this ‘worldly system’ in the first place. (If you are not born again, then ‘you’ are just an Agnostic anyway.)

  • Deuteronomy 18:10
There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.

    Deuteronomy 18:14
For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do

the OLD testament = God’s demand for 100% perfection 100% of the time and the consequences of failure…

the NEW testament = God sent Jesus to meet 100% of the demand and IMPUTES Jesus’ righteousness TO US….

  • Perhaps, if they truly believe in Jesus Christ. The only problem with this is that they may not be a Christian. We are directed to abstain from such practices. How can you say that you truly believe if you do not act as if you believe?

  • Usually people who are psychics or mediums already have the ability instilled inside them from birth. People usually don’t learn to as a skill.

  • I was born a medium/psychic. I can see and talk with spirits, and I have dreams and can see the future in glimpses and I am a Christian.

I would not experiment with it though. There is a difference in many forms of these gifts, you cant just become one.

  • Doing anything and being a Catholic does not conflict. They are not followers of Christ. They are lead by the Church Law.

  • A. assuming they even existed, I would be pretty sure that it would have to be a gift you are born with
    B. I’m pretty sure there are more than a few verses in the bible against it, so no

  • err i dont think so.

There really arent ghosts as much as demons. So you’d be dealing with demons, opening up doors for them and such….which is the opposite of what we’d really want.

Ghosts are technically just demons in disguise. Thats how they convince u of another realm.

  • Too bad anyone in this date can’t even tell the time, or opinion from fact, and truth from belief.

So, no, you’ll be growing up as a below average student.
