can anybody help me with witchcraft?

im wiccan but i cant seem to find any books that are “real” most are christian based lies but i have some that help me a little like the”book of shadows” but i need better help!! i’ve read LeVeys personnal insight but its more of an opinion. i need help on how to make alters easily and how to make ritual circles without breaking the magik bonds. any one know of easy ways to help.. oh yeah my mom thinks im baptist so i have to be able to hide my workings

  1. i believe strongly in witchcraft, but i am not very good at it. Try to meditate once or twice daily. That sometimes helps to release your inner soul.

  2. Uh, if you’re still living with your mom it’s completely unethical (and probably illegal, depending on where you live) to try and teach you anything.
Sorry. You’ll have to research for yourself and wait until you’re old enough to do as you please without your parent’s consent.

  3. Check out this website:
It includes a book review section that will help you pick good reading material.
I recommend “Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner” by Scott Cunningham (it contains descriptions of the basics, such as altar setup and circle casting). Stay FAR away from anything by Silver Ravenwolf (her scholarship is sloppy, her ethics are questionable, and she has a persecution streak a mile wide).
And by the way, Wicca and witchcraft are not the same thing. In fact, witchcraft isn’t the focus of Wicca — honoring and adoring the Goddess and the God, keeping Their holy days, and abiding by the Wiccan Rede are what you should be concentrating on at this point, or at any point in your journey as a Wiccan.

  4. you’ve been reading the wrong books. Very FEW are Christian based. A lot are a bit fluffy or wrong in their research but hardly Christian centered.
LaVey’s work isn’t Wiccan either. If you had read ANY of Anton’s writings, you’d know that he despised religion, especially Christians and Wiccans. The book the Satanic Witch is about using human nature to get what you want – not about using magic and is totally separate from Wicca.
    You want real Wicca/paganism:
1)Ignore the fundies saying you’ll go to hell and are opening yourself up to demons. We don’t believe in either.
2)Get the book: Wicca, a Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham (Amazon.com used books is a great resource)
3)Avoid Silver Ravenwolf, DJ Conway and most Llewellyn books
4)Do NOT pay for lessons over the internet. You can’t ask for references. Do NOT give out personal information to anyone over the internet. Get a PO Box.
    5)www.witchvox.com http://www.wicca.timerift.net
6)Learn and keep learning about various paths in paganism.
    7) get the book: “Drawing Down the Moon” by Margo Adler (an older book that’s a little dated, especially concerning Asatru but a good resource) – it gives an overview on a lot of pagan traditions.

  5. Your Q is sort of convoluting Wicca, which is a neopagan, earth-based religion, with witchcraft (spellcraft/divination), La Vey Satanism (which is a philosophical religion of a kind), and ceremonial magic (which deals with casting circles, theurgy, necromancy, and alternate forms of mysticism, some of which draws and was developed in Jewish and medieval Hermetic/Christian mysticism and esoterica). It seems that it is true that you are going to have to muddle around until you find the information that appeals to you and that you make sense of what exactly you are doing and why. You might want to start with books on Wicca by Cunningham and then expand or redirect from there.

  6. Why do you need help with witchcraft? You obviously believe this will help you? Ask Satan the ‘father of lies’, I am sure he will help in this destruction. When the going gets rough please do not fall on your knees and say “Oh Satan please help me”.
Or do you believe he does not exist? I think you do know where your help is.

  7. I’m with tawaen. You sound very young yet, and it would be irresponsible of anyone to teach you anything about this. When you’re an adult, that will change. No responsible person will teach you.

  8. LeVey has nothing to do with Wicca, and “magik” isn’t a word. Heaven only knows what you’re trying to mean by refering to “the book of shadows.” You want help? Seriously, my first suggestion is to figure out what it is you even want to learn about.

  9. i’m going to cas my lot with tawaen as well mate. but i can say i sympathize, as i have been a practising Chaote for several years, even while i still lived at home, and my mother still thinks i’m a christian. it’s not easy i know, but its possible to learn.
