Best books on witchcraft for teens?

My 11 year old daughter’s been studying and practacing wicca for around 1/2 a year now and she want’s me to buy her some books on it for her birthday. She already has ‘the teen spell book’ by jamie wood, ‘the enchanted diary’ by jamie wood, ‘power spells for teens’ by alyra, ‘elements of witchcraft’ by ellen dugan and ‘teen book of shadows’ by patricia telesco. She’s quite an advanced reader. I would like it if you could just list teen books, but wouldn’t mind if you listed a few adult books.
I would just like to thank those people who are taking this question seriously. And then there are those people who are just plain stupid. She is not a Satanist. Research it and then tell me who’s stupid. It’s you for not knowing what a wonderful religion Wicca is. F*** all of you bastards who left the answers like these ones. You are just very ignorant people who don’t have a care in the world what other people believe. I just hope that one day you’ll be as tolerant as the people that left serious answers.

I don’t understand the issue with silver ravenwolf. I have read her books (starting with To Ride A Silver Broom Stick) along with many other including scott Cunningham and other Wiccan authors. They cover the same material. Silver just does it in a more simplified way. They are a good place to start and an easy read for young beginners. I gave my daughter my silver books when she first asked. Then she advanced

Just my two cents. Some of the following books might be too much information too soon, but they’re essential “witchcraft” resources for any student. Since your daughter is so young, I don’t see any harm in the cheesy “Teen Witch” and “Silver-Whatsit” books, but she may want something more substantial later. The first couple of books in the list are fairly youth-friendly, but they get more adult after that (you might want to read these for your own perspective). Grimoire for the Apprentice Wizard – Oberon Zell Ravenheart (you should take a look at all his books) Earth Magic –… Read more »

As someone who started studying Wicca in her teens, my very strong recommendation is to avoid the “teen Wicca” books. They don’t take things seriously. They make silly promises about getting boyfriends and magic being cool and talk very little of actual religion, which is what Wicca is. There are plenty of entry level books for adults that are comprehensible by teens. My first suggestions would be Wicca for the Solitary Practitioner and and Living Wicca, both by Scott Cunningham. My general reading list is here: http://wicca.timerift.net/book_recommendations.shtml Not all of them will be appropriate for your daughter. Frater UD and… Read more »

avoid Silver ravenwolf,at all costs! Scott Cunningham’s Wicca: a guide for the solitary practitioner, (an adult book, she can easily relate too!) AVOID SATANIC BOOKS! WICCAN’S DO NOT BELIEVE IN SATAN! Avoid Crowley’s books, too, as his was a darker magick. The Craft, by Dororthy Morrison. and finally: The Big Blue: Raymond Buckland’s Book of Witchcraft. Go to About.com, and look up paganwiccan, and the guide there, patti Wigington is a great guide!!!!!! There is a list of 13 books every new Wiccan should read. The top three writers I can say is this: Scott Cunningham Dorothy morrison Raymond Buckland… Read more »

Hands down “Grimoire for the Apprentice Wizard” by Oberon Zell-Ravenheart

Designed for students of ages approx. 11-18 (middle through high school), the Grey School of Wizardry provides an extensive program of studies in all areas of Wizardry and Magick, at an Apprenticeship level. Graduates will be qualified and licensed as “Journeyman Wizards.”

Raymond Buckland, “The Father of American Wicca,” is on the Grey Council

I would recommend anything by Scott Cunningham, Raymond Buckland, Raven Grimassi, Ellen Holland, and Ellen Cannon Reed. My 9 yo has had read a bit by Scott Cunningham (she is reading at 6th grade level) and she seemed to understand it just fine.

magick without tears
book 4
both by crowley. try his ‘gems from equinox’ if you want a more advanced read.
any real material like this is going to be way more informative than the fluff that’s written for small children.

you can find a lot of the classics (which is where the real info is, as opposed to made-up-for-entertainment stuff like ‘the necronomicon’) at this website:

here’s Magick Without Tears:
