Atheists, you make a statement that Nature is not conscious. What is your evidence to support it?

If Nature is not conscious, how can consciousness evolve from it?

  1. do we?
when did we all do that?
    i know i never did
being a pagan atheist who beleive nature is a conscious being
its conscious would evolve the same way the rest of ours did

  2. Well, prepare yourselves to receive a barrage of real truth. I’m going to provide a list of contradictory scripture and quotes for you, to prove Christianity’s lack of credibility. Enjoy.

GEN 7:2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
GEN 7:8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing

  3. When did this “statement” happen? Since when are all atheists one entity that makes blanket statements like that?
Atheism is not a religion. We don’t all ascribe to some belief system that dictates our thoughts. The only thing we have in common by definition is that we don’t believe there is a God. Period.
So , your premise is flawed.
But you knew that already and are just trolling.

  4. Nature is conscious. However, it is conscious in the same way that individual subatomic particles are magnetic, but in everyday experience, only a magnet is magnetic. Similarly, matter and possibly also space are conscious but only particular arrangements of matter are conscious in a way which can express itself.
Magnets can evolve from natural processes. For instance, Earth has a magnetic field due to the gravity of the Moon raising tides in the iron-rich core of the planet, which cause magnetic domains to line up and generate one. Consciousness in the sense of a being which exhibits evidence of it can also evolve without divine intervention.
I think you’re confusing atheism with physicalism.

  5. There is no evidence that nature is conscious. This again, has to do with burden of proof and proving a negative. Look both those up. Consciousness didn’t evolve from nature, it evolved in nature.

  6. Consciousness is the product of the incredibly complex electronic feedback device known as the human brain and nervous system. Nature does not have any kind of electronic feedback system of this type in a grand sense. Therefore your claim has not a shred of evidence and no reason whatsoever to believe it.

  7. I don’t know what atheists you have been talking to, but I am conscious and I am part of nature. Now, if you want to make the claim that all of nature combined has one united consciousness – you’ll have to be the one to show me some evidence of that. You can argue that we are connected physically on a quantum level, but adding consciousness to that is tricky.

  8. The universe is conscious, because I am conscious and I’m a part of the universe. If you can say YOU are conscious when it’s really just your brain that’s conscious, then why can’t you just extend it to say the universe is conscious? Your brain is a part of you. Your brain is also a part of the universe. The universe may have many consciousnesses, but it’s conscious.
