How many atheists meditate and practice Chakra mediation? I am an atheist and I do this…but I feel that it is pseudoscience…what do you guys think? What is your view on the Chakras and their “healing powers”?
I am glad I don’t have kids.

Mr. Derp!!!

I thought the Chakra were those circle-thingeys like the one that Xena threw at the bad guys boomerang-style.
I felt that that thing was neat-o!!!

It’s a bit new-agey, but it’s acceptable as it doesn’t necessarily deal with supernatural deities and gods, or religion to an extent, but just your body, it’s processes, and the different levels of consciousness (brain waves, etc).

If nothing else you always have the power of the placebo effect, which is nothing to be sneezed at. That said, studies have shown the efficaciousness of acupuncture and other Eastern traditional practices, so there may be something to it.
If you start to hear voices or talk to the animals, though, I will disavow any and all knowledge of this answer.

I think that if someone is making money teaching people how to do it, its become a religious practice. sorry, I don’t do either. I don’t have either the time or patience. I have a 2 year old in the house.

Hello, well actually, from a psychological point of view, all theses “exercises” have to do with mind relaxation, when you do them, you feel more relaxed, which is good, would be like doing sports, running, etc etc. Even praying makes persons feel good, but its not because god comes and talk to them, but because some sincronization in the cerebral/brains waves, all of this caused by repeating the same things a lot of times, think in hipnosis, but in a “pre” level of it.

I think atheists do not accept what the religious leaders teach, but they accept the fact if there is a proof.
If you see a benefit from meditation, please do it. why do you need somebody else opinion?
I am not an atheist, but I don’t accept anything blindly.

An Atheist does not believe in God or Religion – that does not mean that they cannot embrace their spirituality.
