Are you a believer in ANY of the countless theories about 2012 and the 'end of the world' or 'transformation'?

Here is a quote from Wikipedia’s “2012” article
“Metaphysical predictions
2012 is claimed by some with New age beliefs to be a great year of spiritual transformation (or alternatively an apocalypse). There is disagreement among believers as to whether 2012 will see an end of civilization, or humanity will be elevated to a higher level.[14]
Many esoteric sources[15] interpret the completion of the thirteenth B’ak’tun cycle in the Long Count of the Maya calendar (which occurs on December 21 by the most widely held correlation) to mean there will be a major change in world order.
Astrologer John Jenkins has determined that on this date, there will be “an extremely close conjunction of the northern hemisphere winter solstice sun with the crossing point of the Galactic equator and the ecliptic”, an event that will not be repeated for thousands of years. [14] [16]
Several authors have published works which claim that a major, world-changing event will take place in 2012:
The 1997 book The Bible Code by Michael Drosnin claims that, according to certain algorithms of the Bible code, an asteroid or comet will collide with the Earth.
The 2006 book 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl by Daniel Pinchbeck discusses theories of a possible global awakening to psychic connection by the year 2012, creating a noosphere.
Patrick Geryl predicts a pole reversal. This has happened many times in the past. Geryl also predicts that the Earth will start rotating in the opposite direction, although a geomagnetic reversal does not require the Earth to change its rotation direction. He does not explain from where the required energy will come. The Earth functions as a gigantic gyroscope. The energy required to rotate the poles would be immense.[17]
Riley Martin claims that Biaviian aliens will allow passage aboard their ‘Great Mother Ship’ when the Earth is ‘transformed’ in 2012.
Terence McKenna’s numerological novelty theory suggests a point of singularity in which humankind will go through a great shift in consciousness.”
And here is an interesting summary as well
Do you believe ANY of this stuff?

  1. I believe something will happen, what that is I don’t know. I’m not sure I wanna know either. Ijust hope it’s something good.

  2. I used to believe in the whole apocalypse stuff.. now i think its bs
i just think something big is going to happen

  3. My boyfriend’s birthday is 12/12/12 sooooo I kinda hope if she does come with the doom of the world… I get something good out of it, ya know, ruling the “new world” with him. I knew my man was special.

  4. i think something’ll happen because it is sorta weird for the Mayans to just stop a calendar all of a sudden
i do not know what will happen but something will
    that’s the year i graduate too =[

  5. right now, im still skeptical about the whole thing, but just the thought it makes me a little afraid……just a little

  6. To tell you the truth i actually do!!! Now, i dont know if crop circles are real but there was this one that had this aztec calendar that had May 20, 2012 on it! There goes 2012 again
Also the people that are studying global warming say that if we dont do nothing to minimize this effect by 2011(which is pretty close to 2012) it will be to late from stoping some major catastrofis from happening!

  7. Different people, groups, religious sects, and many others have predicted that life would end for century’s. At different points in the past, and it still hasn’t happened yet.
I don’t think we will ever know when it will happen.
    It will just happen.

  8. I think the only thing that’s going to happen is that a great lot of idiots will be panicking and annoying the rest of us. I don’t believe in so much supernatural gobshite, honestly. I believe in scientific facts and reality. I hope I’m off on the boat so I don’t have to hear about it — I think I’ll leave about 3 months beforehand and come back on the 13th when it’s all over with.

  9. terrance mckenna is a very smart man, and what he’s saying is very possible, according to many futurists. (read “The singularity is near” by Ray Kurzweil, for a scientific view.

  10. any god fearing man, any y2k survivor, any level-headed person would be best just to dismiss the claim of the 2012 incident. if a catastrophic event is going to happen to the earth, then science could reveal it. if the “crop circles” were produced by real aliens (which is a rediculous concept to believe in this day and age) then we would have a little more than theories. yet as always, the people with the strongest oppinion still are not proven right, so if this is to become true, if we are all to die in 2012 may we all thrive, prosper, and live utopian like until then. – if we do know the date were gonna meet our maker – we better be extra good until then.

  11. It isn’t going to be the end of the world…at worst, we’ll see a major power shift in the world away from the United States is all (not that that won’t suck for some of us). And that’s been coming for some time anyway.
And yeah, I do have my *own* theory about transformations. Nothing cosmic or major, just observations about the ecosystem, evolution, and *threshholds* of certain pollutants and also of *Long Standing* pro-survival pressures.
In simple terms: Before mainstream Homo Sapiens became civilized, we *weren’t alone*. At the very least there were Homo Erectus and Neandertals to deal with. Then they died off as we became civilized and more social, and we’ve been alone since.
I’d submit that this is a blip, an aberration from the normal situation in terms of evolution, and that sooner, rather than later, new species of mankind are going to show up. It may be an upgrade or a downgrade, who knows. But according to the site below, our numbers alone, some 6 *Billion* of us, are enough to start evolution again:
Just search the whole phrases, quotes and all, of “human evolution” and “human population”. We’ve hit a threshhold already, and that doesn’t even count pollution, global warming, or anything else.
But hey, what do I know? I just live on this mudball, you know? ^_^ Star for you!
