Affirmations… do they work?

I’ve been researching Abraham, Louise L Hay, and Wayne Dyer (who are all awesome teachers!!!) and all of them talk about using positive affirmations to change your life. I would like to know if anyone has used them seriously to change their life, and if so, which technique did they use to do so.
I would like to incorporate them into my life, as I think my thinking can be quite critical and negative…
Any experienced affirmers out there like to share their experiences with a newbie?
Thanks.

  1. i believe they help me to be positive and to make changes.
    my favorites –
there are no mistakes or failures, only lessons
we are shaped by our thoughts, we become what we think*

  2. Yes affirmations absolutely work:
Start with gratitude. Make a list of everything you are grateful for. You can being by being grateful that you are breathing and that you heart is beating. Then go from there.
Stop reading news websites, news papers and watching negative things on tv. Our subconscious sucks all of that up and retains it to be fed back to us as negative thoughts later.
Try using affirmations when you have a negative thought. Come up with 2 or 3 affirmations that are positive, easy to remember and targeted toward how you want to feel. Say them each evening, morning and as negative thoughts creep in. The repetition will become habit that will turn into a positive outlook on life.
    Lastly, and always, smile!
