It takes time and practice for most. There are many different ways and techniques out there. The most basic way to start out is to sit, back strait, head held high, on a comfortable surface. I would recomend a pillow on the floor ( chairs can get uncomfortable). Make sure that you are not going to be disturbed. Turn off the cell phone, the ringer on the home phone and put a Do-Not-Disturb sign on your front door. Now, seat yourself comfertablly and try and relax. Some people like to play soft music of the New Age or Light Classical variety. Picture in your mind an empty box. ( If you have any trouble visualizing, take your time, it will come) Take all your worries and troubles from the day and “SEE” yourself putting them in the box. Now, “SEE” yourself standing on a bridge over a gently flowing stream. The air around you is sweet and the temperature is just the way you like it. ( As I said before this can take time. If you lose the image, don’t fret. Just relax and try again, but, don’t do it to the piont that you are wearing yourself out.) Now “SEE” yourself throw the box containing your troubles in to the water and watching them float away. I know this can sound silly. But, with practice, it can work. From here, cross the bridge into a sunny medow, where the grass is as soft as wool. Here, sit down and think of nothing. Just take in your surroundings. When you are ready to leave, get up and walk back across the bridge and then open yours when you are ready. If you fall asleep, don’t worry. Sometimes that happens. Find some books on the subject, there are about a million out there.
