10 things you probably didn't know about John McCain.

10 things you should know about John McCain (but probably don’t):
1.John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has “evolved,” yet he’s continued to oppose key civil rights laws.
2.According to Bloomberg News, McCain is more hawkish than Bush on Iraq, Russia and China. Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan says McCain “will make Cheney look like Gandhi.”
3.His reputation is built on his opposition to torture, but McCain voted against a bill to ban waterboarding, and then applauded President Bush for vetoing that ban.
4.McCain opposes a woman’s right to choose. He said, “I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned.”
5.The Children’s Defense Fund rated McCain as the worst senator in Congress for children. He voted against the children’s health care bill last year, then defended Bush’s veto of the bill.
6.He’s one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. The Associated Press reports he and his wife own at least eight homes! Yet McCain says the solution to the housing crisis is for people facing foreclosure to get a “second job” and skip their vacations.
7.Many of McCain’s fellow Republican senators say he’s too reckless to be commander in chief. One Republican senator said: “The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He’s erratic. He’s hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me.”
8.McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists. The government watchdog group Public Citizen says McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates.
9.McCain has sought closer ties to the extreme religious right in recent years. The pastor McCain calls his “spiritual guide,” Rod Parsley, believes America’s founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a “false religion.” McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God’s punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church “the Antichrist” and a “false cult.”
10.He positions himself as pro-environment, but he scored a 0–yes, zero–from the League of Conservation Voters last year.
Well, firstly, you can check any government officials voting record.
Secondly, you can find most of these things if you actually do RESEARCH on the web. Yes, everything in this is 100% true. I did NOT make any of this up.

  1. Are those points supposed to make me like McCain more or less? I agree with almost all of his positions that you listed. Go McCain!

  2. Actually, I did know all of that about McCain because I have seen these 10 facts about McCain posted on various websites. However, my concern is with the McCain supporters. It is apparent that many of them do not even know much about the man they support. Many can’t even justify why the like him over Obama. I’m sure that many McCain supporters do not know these 10 facts about McCain!

  3. Actually you have listed a number of very good reasons to vote FOR senator McCain. If true, item number 4 would be reason enough on it’s own. If with all of those good reasons to support him you are still not convinvced, the ultimate reason is that he is NOT Obama.

  4. This should be titled, “Ten Things I Don’t Give a Shit About”
Now, with regards to equal exposure, please post the “Ten things you probably don’t know about Barak Obama”. Unless you’re a Socialist.

  5. No one cares about your biased liberal views. Oh, and do you have anything to support Barack Obama, like down to earth facts and views. Tell me some of those and I might be convinced.

  6. 1.John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has “evolved,” yet he’s continued to oppose key civil rights laws. AND HE IS STILL BETTER THAN OBAMA.
2.According to Bloomberg News, McCain is more hawkish than Bush on Iraq, Russia and China. Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan says McCain “will make Cheney look like Gandhi.”AND HE IS STILL BETTER THAN OBAMA.
3.His reputation is built on his opposition to torture, but McCain voted against a bill to ban waterboarding, and then applauded President Bush for vetoing that ban. GOOD FOR HIM…AND HE IS STILL BETTER THAN OBAMA.
4.McCain opposes a woman’s right to choose. He said, “I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned.” THAT SUCKS, BUT IT DOESN’T MATTER BECAUSE THEY CAN’T TAKE AWAY A WOMAN’S RIGHT TO CHOOSE….AND HE IS STILL BETTER THAN OBAMA.
5.The Children’s Defense Fund rated McCain as the worst senator in Congress for children. He voted against the children’s health care bill last year, then defended Bush’s veto of the bill. THAT’S JUST AWFUL…AND HE IS STILL BETTER THAN OBAMA.
6.He’s one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. The Associated Press reports he and his wife own at least eight homes! Yet McCain says the solution to the housing crisis is for people facing foreclosure to get a “second job” and skip their vacations. SO? HE EARNED HIS MONEY. JUST BECAUSE YOU DON’T HAVE ANY, DON’T BE JEALOUS OF HIS SUCCESS. WHY SHOULD THE RICH GIVE AWAY THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY? THAT’S NOT FAIR. AND HE IS STILL BETTER THAN OBAMA.
7.Many of McCain’s fellow Republican senators say he’s too reckless to be commander in chief. One Republican senator said: “The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He’s erratic. He’s hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me.” SO WHAT? HE IS STILL BETTER THAN OBAMA.
8.McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists. The government watchdog group Public Citizen says McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates. SO? WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH HIM DOING A BETTER JOB THAN BUSH (NOT HARD TO DO) OR… STILL BEING A BETTER CHOICE THAN OBAMA?
9.McCain has sought closer ties to the extreme religious right in recent years. The pastor McCain calls his “spiritual guide,” Rod Parsley, believes America’s founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a “false religion.” McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God’s punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church “the Antichrist” and a “false cult.” SO? IT’S BETTER THAN GROWING UP WITH AN INSANE PASTOR LIKE OBAMA DID.
    10. He positions himself as pro-environment, but he scored a 0–yes, zero–from the League of Conservation Voters last year. SO? The League of Conservation Voters IS A POLITICALLY DRIVEN GROUP JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE. EVER HEARD OF A LITTLE THING CALLED “SPIN?” HE’S STILL BETTER THAN OBAMA.
Things about Obama you should keep in mind.
    -His wife is freaking nuts.
-He’s the most ashen looking black guy I have ever seen.
-He surrounds himself with racial fanatics.
    -He’s the devil.

  7. 1. I would, too. National holidays are very expensive. So is kowtowing to minorities. Now, get your a** back to work.
    2. I too am more “hawkish” than Bush on Iraq. In fact, I’m pretty friggin hawkish on that whole region.
    3. That’s pretty moronic of McCain. But I think making a big deal out of waterboarding is pretty moronic, too. Physical torture is questionable, but waterboarding is really a psych/emotional torture, so I don’t see the problem. Don’t want to get waterboarded, then tell us what we want to know. Waterboarding sure as hell beats getting beheaded on al-Jazeera.
    4. Roe v. Wade was an illogical and horrible decision. One of the S. Ct.’s darkets hours.
    5. Not the taxpayers’ job to pay for your sick kids.
    6. Can’t begrudge a guy for marrying well.
    7. Not to mention he’s too liberal, and very weak on immigration. But, given the alternative, voting McCain this year is a necessary evil.
    8. OK.
    9. Jeremiah Wright wouldn’t take his calls.
    10. Wow! Wonder how he scored with PETA and the National Socialist Party. NAMBLA? The ACLU? The Rainbow Coalition? Am I leaving anyone out?
