who knows a literary agency that is specialised in spiritual books and has time to look at a submission?
I wrote a book on the ultimate (spiritual) truth, but it seems very difficult to find an literary agent who is willing to pay serious attention to the manuscript.

You’ll have to do some research to find an agent that handles the kind of book you have written.
For tips on crafting the perfect query letter and finding an agent go to http://www.writersdigest.com It’s a great site with up to date information on writing and publishing. They also have links to legitimate agents and publishers.
Good luck and happy writing. =)
Go to your local library and go to the reference section and get the book Writer’s Market 2009. It’s all in there.
Or go to your local book store and get Writer’s Market 2010. It’s already out. It’s thirty dollars.
If you’ve already sent the book to a lot of agents and they are refusing it then revise it until someone takes it. If you’ve only sent it to a few then just keep sending it out.
Research the literary agency, find a bio of their staff and send the manuscript directly to the newest agents. They usually get the “short stack” of quick reads and want to build their client base the most so are more willing to read stuff from new writers.
The problem is that agents and publishers don’t have a lot of time or anything. It isn’t that they don’t want to pay “serious” attention, it’s that they need it to absolutely jump out at them like nothing ever seen before in order for them to have time to deal with it nowadays.
A friend recently told me something new about self-publishing. If you pick the right place, once you’re done with the initial outlay, the company actually tries to get it over to a publishing company for you, because they want to see it succeed!!
Good luck
Check out the Writers Year Book. In it you will find what kind of work each publishing house does. No go!od sending off a spiritual manuscript to a children’s publisher. You need to research the correct publishing house for your kind of work. That is if they will even look at it!

Here’s something Stephen King said about agents for beginning writers….
“An agent? Forget it. For now
Agents get 10% of monies earned by their clients. 10% of nothing is nothing. Agents also have to pay the rent. Beginning writers do not contribute to that or any other necessity of life. Flog your stories around yourself. If you’ve done a novel, send around query letters to publishers, one by one, and follow up with sample chapters and/or the manuscript complete. And remember Stephen King’s First Rule of Writers and Agents, learned by bitter personal experience: You don’t need one until you’re making enough for someone to steal … and if you’re making that much, you’ll be able to take your pick of good agents.”
It’s a better answer than most of us here can offer. Good luck.
