It is said, ‘That to declare oneself enlightened, proves one is already not’, as the statement is said indeed by the Ego. To have ego is to not be enlightened. The self declared prophet is not listened to or taken seriously and would never be accepted within religious circles. Hello. I am Buddhist and I was watching a short video on You Tube about a trip the Dalai Lama took to France and in it he mentioned how he meditates on Bodhicitta in order to help him reach enlightenment. This has puzzled me because I thought the Dalai Lama had already acheived enlightenment and had chosen to be reincarnated in a succession of human bodies in order to help others. Can anyone help me here- is His Holiness enlightened or not? Thankyou very much for your time and help. Om mani padme hum
