Do we acquire consciousness because we realize or we realize that is why we acquired consciousness?

It is a plain question whether man acquired consciousness because of realization or the other way.. Please help me by sharing me your opinions. Thanks!

Why do some physicists think consciousness is required for quantum events?

To me that sounds like non-sense. The universe has been “happening” way, way, way, before human consciousness evolved! Makes no sense to say events only happens if we observe it. It’s non-sense.

Is there a working hypothesis on how consciousness arises?

Nov 29, 2011 5 Comments

I know that many debatable theories have been proposed, such as consciousness arising from matter (highly unlikely) and matter arising from consciousness (still debated) but has any quantum physicist proposed a working hypothesis yet? Sorry I should have been clearer. I mean consciousness at the level of a human, not individual elements or at the [...]

Is Consciousness an emergent property of the human brain?

Nov 28, 2011 No Comments

I understand that complex systems can sometimes behavior in ways that are entirely unpredictable, for example the human brain can be described as cellular functions and neurochemical interactions, but that description does not explain human consciousness a capacity that far exceeds simple neuro functions, argo, consciousness is an emergent property?

Is it possible for consciousness to continue in humans after death and do atoms have consciousness?

Nov 27, 2011 2 Comments

Little is known about the nature of consciousness. For some reason, we humans believe our brains are the only thing capable of being conscious. My question is could trees, rocks, stars and inanimate objects have consciousness? Of course they wouldn’t be able to see, hear, and feel the way humans and animals do but could [...]

How is such a deep, complex consciousness formed out of only a few elements?

Nov 26, 2011 2 Comments

According to my biology teacher, humans are made out of only a few basic elements (carbon, nitrogen, etc). Out of those elements, how is our consciousness formed? Yes, we need a consciousness to do basic things such as reproduce, find food, etc. but why bother with all these complex and deep emotions, psychological conditions, feelings, etc?

Why does our mind believe our consciousness to be connected us?

Nov 26, 2011 4 Comments

We could, in theory, have been born with a consciousness that distances itself from our neurological, biological self. We could have brains and body that react to stimuli, feel emotions and reactions, reason, contemplate (cognitively) yet not also possess the part of consciousness that feels unattached to the body. But instead we all have a [...]

What’s the relationship between consciousness and emptiness?

Nov 26, 2011 5 Comments

Maybe at the most basic level, the universe is made from two types of things: atoms or emptiness. Between these two exists everything we know from science to exist. So if consciousness is not made out of atoms (or is just a by product of atoms), does that make it (consciousness) once barren of content, [...]

Is the physical universe merely hosted in our consciousness?

Nov 25, 2011 3 Comments

This might be a physics question… If space and time are linked, and the ACTUAL PRESENT is “zero-time” (no frame like 32 a second in some video but 0, that would make space 0, or nonexistent in our ways of measurement. Our perception of the world around us would be an illusion, hosted in our [...]

Would the universe exist without consciousness to observe it?

Nov 25, 2011 6 Comments

Scientists have estimated the universe to be at least 13.75 billion years old. We assume this based on experiments and observation. But I would like to know if the universe’s age matters if there’s no consciousness. Who would perceive and think that the universe exists? And if nothing can observe the universe, does it exist [...]
