so if i make something up(fiction) but use ideas from….?
ok i want to write about mysticism, occult etc, akashic records for instance, can i put my own spin on it? or the emerald tablet? these are older things and i want to include them in my story, but in my own way. any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

Lots of published authors utilize mythical ideas in their stories. Most recently Dean Koontz used the idea of ‘Bodachs’ in his Odd Thomas series. He uses them as an omen of death which mythology says they are however he give them a more sentient form. Similarly Doby from Harry Potter is a house elf that cleans and is very attached to where he lives. In English Mythology those are the characteristics of a doby house elf.
I’ve also recently read two books with the akashic records. In one book it referred to a listing of all the heavenly powers and their real names and locations. In the other book it was used as a list of all the witches in the world. So you can most definitely put your own twist on it.
