  • Here is a simple starter meditation but can also be used for those who have been meditating for a long time. Meditation doesn’t have to be exotic. Simple is just as good.

    A Simple Meditation

Sit upright in a comfortable chair.

    Close your eyes

Breathe in through your nose until you can take no more air and hold for 8 seconds if possible.

Breathe out through your mouth until all air is expelled.

Do this at least 5 times.

Slowly and silently count down from 10 to 1 and feel yourself becoming more relaxed.

Continue to concentrate on your breath to push thoughts away.

    Or

Choose a mantra and repeat silently whenever thoughts appear.

Continue for 20 – 30 minutes and slowly return to normal consciousness.

    A Mantra Is:

A Subtle sound vibration which through repetition aims at explanding one’s awareness or consciousness.

    Examples of Mantras:

    Om

    Om Tara

    Ram

    Shalom

    Rama Rama

    Sha – Ing

A Mantra is personal and should not be shared with others.

  • I think Quixotic’s answer above was pretty good for starters.

If you like a more detailed set of instructions I recommend you check out http://www.mro.org/zmm/teachings/meditation.php. It has a very good and detailed set of instructions on how to do zazen (zen meditation). Zazen is not chakra/kundalini meditation and does not recommend visualizations as does chakra meditation. It is more ‘pure’ meditation in my opinion, and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

  • Ok:) Well, meditation is great:) I do it all the time:) First of all your going to need a position. Try one of these:
    1. Traditional cross legged.
    2. On your knees.
    3. Sitting in your chair with feet apart.
    4. Laying down.
Which ever one you choose, make sure your back is strait:)
Next, your going to need to know what kind of meditation you want to do. Since you showed interest in chakras you might enjoy chakra meditation. you will need to know where all the chakras are to do this. Here is how you do it:
    1. Pick a position.
    2. Make sure your back is strait.
    3. Take 5 deep breaths. Breath in for 5 seconds and out for 5 seconds:)
    4. Focus on the crown chakra. Imagine light pouring into this chakra.
    5. When you feel the chakra is full of light then move on to the next chakra.
Do this with all of your chakras, but make sure that the light comes down through the crown chakra before reaching the chakra you are working on at that time:)

  • Start in the comfort of your own home. Prepare a room by making sure it is tidy and quiet, away from distractions. Make sure you have a comfortable place to sit, I use a mat on the floor of my bedroom. Dim the lights or close the shades if you desire to do so. Begin by focusing on your breath and trying to clear your mind of the chatter. Each time your brain begins to get distracted, gently guide yourself back to focusing only on your breath.
