How do you charge chakra in Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2 (GameCube)?

I was rummaging through old drawers, and I found the game. I started playing, but it’s been so long since I played I forgot most of the controls. I just need to know the button pattern or whatever, or if it’s even possible to charge chakra without fighting.
