Humans by nature, are social creatures. We crave social contact so we build relationships to connect with others. Relationships do not only add spice to our lives, they are also a means for us to learn. They shape us as individuals and contribute to our overall well-being. When relationships go smoothly, they are fun and rewarding. However, relationships also undergo challenges and some can change over time. When relationships go through hard times, they cause us heartaches and sadness. Fortunately, there are many ways to remedy the relationships that we value. In the field of spirituality, Reiki is one effective way to mend them.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is made up of two Japanese words, rei and ki. The word Rei refers to a Higher Intelligence who governs over the universe. This Divine Being is infinite by nature and all knowing. Commonly, Rei is known as God but has many other names depending on culture or religious denomination. The second word Ki pertains to the non-physical energy that gives life to all living things. In simple terms, it is also called as ?life force energy.?

Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that makes use of life force energy to reduce stress and induce relaxation which leads to healing. It is administered through laying of hands to facilitate the flow of unseen life force energy. When this energy flows through an individual, it feels like a glowing radiance that flows within and around him. Reiki treats the whole person from his physical body to his spirit creating many positive effects like peace of mind, security and well-being.

What makes Reiki useful in healing relationships?

Reiki can heal anything. It can heal physical ailments and also emotional trauma. There are no limits as to what it can heal when we allow it to work in us. Reiki can be used to heal not only what we are facing in the present but also what happened in the past and what will happen in the future. Because of this, Reiki serves as a simple yet effective way to heal relationships, whether it involves others or ourselves.

How can we use Reiki to treat a broken relationship?

To begin healing broken relationships with Reiki,  we must accept that ourself  also partly responsible for past and let go. Self Love is the most healing force in the world; nothing goes deeper than Self Love. It heals not only the body, not only the mind, but also the soul, So forgive yourself and accept yourself as you are, only then can you build a genuine intention to heal which makes Reiki effective. This is essential as Reiki is build up only on a positive foundation.

First, we must find a quiet place to perform a Reiki treatment. It must be free from any form of distraction. We should also be clear on what our goals are or what it is we would like to happen. Make sure you have prepared a piece of paper and a pen which you can readily use. Take the piece of paper and write your name and the name of the person whom you want to send healing energy to. Next, draw symbols you are attuned to on the same piece of paper. Then, fold it so that it is small enough to fit in between your hands. Hold the piece of paper and close your eyes. Visualize your life force energy and let it flow to the piece of paper that you are holding. This is a very simple method but the beauty of Reiki is it works in a subconscious level so it knows exactly what to heal.
