    yes

One’s inner peace and strength is already there. Meditation allows the obstacles (ego) to fall away. This does not happen overnight, but is the cumulative effect of a significant practice. Also, it is not enough just to sit, one must be mindful of the practice in every moment.

May you be happy and well.

The simple answer is “yes,” and especially if when you say “Zen study” you mean “Zen practice.”

Like any social institution, Zen has taken on somewhat different forms across the centuries and in the various cultures it has come to, but at it’s heart, Zen is simply the practice of not removing ourselves from what is most matter-of-factly true.

Zen is honesty. It is an intimacy with life. It is the naked encounter of your heart and mind with being.

So, again, “yes.” Sincerely engaged, Zen practice naturally and necessarily brings about insight into the habits of your mind and heart. Such wisdom brings both a compassionate inner peace and a soft-hearted strength.
